Egg Whites vs. Egg Beaters

I like the taste of Egg Beaters better...but my wallet likes egg whites better :) I use both of them depending on my mood.

LOL, I buy Egg Beaters (or the less expensive ReddiEgg) primarily for looks! I just can't stand the way egg whites look when they're cooked up... :D

I really don't think that there is much difference. Egg beaters has more sodium than egg whites. I think the yellow coloring and salt make egg beaters tasteand look better. They are way to expensive for what they are. Maybe someone could convince me of a good reason to buy these. I think you can add seasonings, ff cheese or low fat, onions, to egg whites and they are just as good.

I eat egg beaters a lot, and yes they are expensive! With my efforts of trying to eat clean most of the time, I've been trying to figure out if they are clean or not. Would it be better to be separating regular eggs instead (thank goodness I have a dog who loves the cooked yolks!)? I've read the ingredient list on the egg beaters carton and it doesn't look too bad, but what do the rest of you 'educated' folks think about it? Is this processed food or not?

I think I will look again tomorrow when I go shopping. Everytime I look at the sodium and cost I put them back. I am pretty sure there is some coloring added to make it yellow since it is supposed to be egg whites. I saw once that some egg substitutes also have oils added. I don't think Eggbeaters do though.

I love egg whites. I love when they are cooked good. No runny crap for me. I feel wasteful (sometimes) for using these instead of Egg Beaters but I consider how more natural they are than processed EggBeaters & such.

I add them to sauteed onions, tomatoes & jalapeno or green pepper. Or I add them to spinach & mushrooms. Sometime to beans with some salsa on top. They are so versatile, a plain egg white can never be just a plain egg white.

nope. Egg beaters, yellow, egg whites= white. Still good. Egg whites cheaper. egg beaters convienent (s). Can't go wrong either way.

I like both, but tend to use the whites for cost purposes. My DH has trouble understanding why I would "waste" half the egg. I look at it this way: Waste money buying EggBeaters when whites are cheaper; waste calories/fat eating something out of guilt if it's not what I want; waste trees to manufacture cartons. All-in-all, it's a toss up. I don't think the chickens mind either way ;)
