Egg whites for protein?

Hi! I'm interested in the various discussions about protein shakes and the different things people use; protein powders, etc.

Just out of curiosity what do people think about using the pasteurized egg whites (you can get them in a carton in the EggBeater section) in smoothies to add protein?

My thoughts are that it's cheap and quick but I don't know enough about it.

I love boiled egg whites and always have. Even as a kid, I hated the yolks.

I don't use egg whites except in the boiled form except for an occasional egg white/veggie omlet.
 
I have regularly used "traditional" egg whites for protein, but just started using the pasturized stuff in shakes (and straight - they really are tasteless and are great for a right before bed protein boost). I love it.
 
Thanks to you both for your replies. I've been mulling over "gulp" getting up early to work out and adding more weight training since I've been doing just cardio for a month to see if the scale would budge. I'll need something restorative afterwards and, for me, it needs to be all of the following - quick, easy, and cheap.

I have tried the egg whites here and there and they really do taste like nothing so it's very easy to add them to soft foods or smoothies.
