Hi all!
I'm back at the office - feet aching like hell but I just popped 2 Ibuprofen so I should feel some relief soon. Wish I had some ice right now though!
You know I've been reading and I really think that I have or I'm in the early stages of plantar fasciia (?). While flipping through a health book from our insurance company, I came across the foot section. It stated that one of the causes is the foot rolling inward. Yesterday, when I tried the shoe out with new inserts, I realized that my suspicions were true. When I walk my feet feel like their sliding in, rolling inward. So if this is happening while I'm just walking it must be worse when I'm running, or the impact is worse. Although I don't really notice it while running but I can imagine the constant sliding inward is the major problem.
When I spoke with the store owner yesterday and explained what was happening he just offered a (free) new pair of inserts, suggested that I probably bruised my foot while running somehow, and suggested that I ice, elevate and take pain relievers and lay off the running for a few days. Never once did he acknowledge that the shoe itself could be at fault, that he chose the wrong shoe for me or offer to fit me into a different shoe. Well he did offer to fit me into a different style shoe but NEXT time. I'm thinking he just doesn't want to refund my money. I have never had any foot problems until I bought this particular Nike shoe.
I'm in a dilemna here because I train with his group and I understand he is the sole owner of this small store, but sheesh! I think what I'm going to do is box up this pair and go out and buy a regular pair of cross trainers. So I'm tossing this all into my "lesson learned" category. And seeing that I won't be running for a while I have time to search and try on other brands/styles that have more support and are made of a sturdier fabric that the ones I have now!
Robin - I will be careful! I don't plan to run until Sunday at the earliest. I think I'll spend my time doing floor legwork and abs. Oops! Guess there's no reason that I should leave out the upper body,

I can do most moves from a seated position if necessary and I certainly know tons of modifications and exercise substitutions.

This may turn out to be a good week after all! And if I really feel like I need to do some cardio I can always go the Y and hop on one of the bikes!
Julie- I read that book too and it does seem like the exercise plan was too easy. Yes, Robin, not intense enough! I tend to look at these type of books as a starting point for life long couch potatoes who have decided to get up and do something. I gave that to my mom to read. And all the other books seem to be strictly for competing body builders. There really needs to be a book for the rest of us!
One of my coworkers just brought me a plate full of goodies (were doing our office Thanksgiving potluck today). I can't wait - must eat now!
TTFN,
Angie
