ebay vs. direct?

I'm just curious if people buy their workouts(not only cathe workouts) used/ebay etc. or direct. I have bought some through ebay. I came to the conclusion that it's not worth it. The prices are so close to new, and workout videos/dvd's get such high use (as we all can attest to). I guess I'd just assume pay the extra two dollars and get the guarantee. What do you all do?

I buy direct from Cathe. I wouldn't consider Ebay as I have heard too many bad stories...and personally know people that have been taken...:)...Carole

i bought all my cathe and firm dvds from ebay and never had a problem.

you can always bid only on the "new sealed" dvd's on offer, not the opened ones--that helps

if you buy used/opened, make sure the ebay ad doesnt anywhere and anyway hint that the item is in fact a copy, sometimes its in there but hidden. make sure you ask questions, and keep an email record of the questions and answers. ask directly if they are dvd-r's or originals. ask if the backs of the dvds are purple (bootleg) or silver (real). you can get any dispute solved through ebay if you have this record. also for a couple extra cents you can get buyer protection from paypal, if the seller accepts paypal.

i would venture to say the fine fans of cathe here, and cathe HERSELF would prefer you buy direct so that cathe continues to make enough money to make it worth her while to continue making her fabulous workouts ;)

I try to buy direct from Cathe when I can. Sometimes it's just not possible, as it seems it takes longer for some reason when I buy direct from Cathe's website, I have no idea why.

One way to look at it, is each new DVD or tape Cathe makes a profit on. Where as ebay, someone has already payed Cathe so when you buy it, your basically just giving them their money back. So in a way you did give Cathe her percentage, but you don't get the garentee. And if you ran into the person my client did, you can get a fake DVD that looks like the real thing but has a purple back, meaning that it's a fake and Cathe made nothing from this DVD except from the original.

Personally I prefer to support Cathe as she works hard for all of us, and from a few book author's and how crappy their *royality* the money they get for each book sold is. I much rather give what I can to Cathe. For a good book author, they get 10% royality fee from the cover price. So if said book is $20, they make $2. I have no idea what Cathe makes off the DVDs, but I'm figuring it's probably a percentage like this. As there is a lot of cost that goes into it. As you got to pay the crew, the filming staff, the editor, the cd maker, the cover artist, and so on. And I figure everyone bought directly from Cathe will help drive down cost for later workouts, as more demand means lower price. Which is one of the reason, I hope that the Target thing really goes like a wild-fire, and everyone wants Cathe DVDs, and i'll be able to collect them at a faster pace. Okay so I'm selfish... but I like her workouts.

I buy from Cathe.com or Collagevideo.com. I've had DVD (and VHS) problems in the past and both websites have awesome customer service (I got my replacements in about a week). I doubt that if I buy them from ebay I'll have the lifetime replacement guarantee that both sites offer, therefore I don't buy my Cathe DVDs from ebay.

As I am currently a seller on ebay , I would say to try and get direct from Cathe. There really is a lot of "bootlegging" going on. My BIL bought 3 movies from 2 different people and they were both bootleg copies. Before I buy anything I definitely check their feedback (click on the # next to their user i.d.) to see if there are any negatives. I do have to say that I have looked into getting my Cathe's from there, but the people that are bidding on them are taking the prices past (sp?) what Cathe even sells them for. Just my opinion.:)

I have only bought direct because most of the time the ebay price get so high anyways. But then again I do tape some of them off fittv until I save up for the next one.
