Eating on a schedule

Has anyone here incorporated timing of their meals to help keep their weight in control, including controlling blood sugar, etc.? I am thinking of Jorge Cruise's 3- hour diet, but the question actually applies more to just eating on a regular schedule?

if you do, do you find 2, 2.5, 3 or whatever hours as a regularly scheduled eating time helpful? Does it control hunger better? Just curious...

I eat about 5 small meals a day (about 3 hours apart). Each meal is anywhere from 350-400 calories each, as a general rule. This keeps me from getting hungry and keeps my energy levels up. If you haven't read the book "Burn the Fat Feed the Muscle" by Tom Venuto, I would recommend it. It explains how to determine how many meals/calories you need to burn fat and not lose muscle. You can download it for about $40 at the following link:

Many people on this site have had success with it. Do a search for BFFM on this forum to read some of the previous threads.

Good luck!

I'm not familiar with Cruise's diet, but I know that eating small meals every few hours is excellent for your health (as opposed to eating three big meals a day). IMHO, it can also help prevent overeating, because you maintain a slight fullness throughout the day.

I do pretty much exactly as Dianna does, as per Burn the Fat Feed the Muscle, except my meals get a little smaller as the day goes on, ending with about a 200-250 calorie meal. I have about 5 balanced meals, about 3 hours apart, but end with a before bed snack. It definitely helps with controlling cravings and absolutely helps with keeping your energy levels constant, provided of course you're eating healthy balanced meals. ;-)

I highly recommend this way of eating. It's a great way to feel good, and keep the metabolism rev'ed up. It's like stoking a fire! ;-)

I try to eat 6 small meals per day. The only thing I don't like about this is, I am constantly thinking about food, which is something I don't want to do. Also, sometimes I eat with a two hour spread and sometimes three. When I did the Body For Life Program, a rule of thumb was that if you are hungry before 2 hours, you aren't eating enough and if you are still full after 2-3 hours you are eating too much. Hope this helpls. Melissa
