Eating - How Many Calories?

Annabelle2

Cathlete
I am trying to determine if I need to eat more but I am a bit hesitant to up my calorie intake. I am 48, am currently doing a minimum of 45 minutes cardio 5 to 6 days a week and am working two body parts per day. I follow a Glycemic Index plan eating 5 times a day about 1200-1400 calories. I am hungry a lot and end up snacking more than I wand to, I crave sugar but also quit smoking about 8 months ago. So, I am wondering about your size, your workout intensity level and how much you eat - I know it is a bit personal but I would love to hear what you do/your opinion, or if you don't mind the info below:

Calories you eat to lose weight:
Calories you eat to maintain:
How hard you exercise:

I haven't been following a strict plan as of late but I lost about 20 pounds recently...

Height: 5' 3"

Calories you eat to lose weight: was roughly 1500-1600
Calories you eat to maintain: was about 2000
How hard you exercise: quite hard, it was all Cathe advanced work outs, step, kickbox, circuit, imax, weight training.
How often you exercise: 6 days per week/1-1.5 hours per day.
Calories burned in average exercise session: about 400-500 per hour during most Cathe cardio...more for some, less for others

I don't keep a very close check on my stats, but I've just decided to change up my diet a bit by adding in a lot more fresh, raw veggies. Quite possibly I'll cut back on dairy too. I'm a vegetarian who is contemplating veganism.

Calories burned in average exercise session: Haven't the foggiest.
Percentages of Fat/Carbs/Protein in your diet: That's one thing I don't really keep track of. I've estimated a few times and when I really think about it, I come pretty close to the 50/Carb, 30/Fat, 20/Protein ratio. But lots of times I'm a little high on fat. Hence the diet changes I mentioned above.

Percentages of Fat/Carbs/Protein in your diet: I have no idea, I'm following the Jenny Craig program which is preplanned out.
Do you carb cycle? No.
Do you zig zag calories? No.

I just started Jenny Craig about 3 weeks ago and I was concerned that they may have my calories too low for my amount of activity but I feel good..was hungry the first week and a half but not anymore. And, I've lost 6 lbs in 3 weeks whereas before I was at a standstill. So I would say, judge by how you feel..how long have you been following your program?..give yourself time to adjust..if you're still hungry after 2-3 weeks or are feeling other side effects, you may need to up your calories.
