Eating Healthy Thread...

I had a change of plans for supper, ended up having baby potatoes baked with Montreal steak spice, olive oil and dijon mustard, baby peas and a small piece of tortiere (French Canadian meat pie), I ate what the kids ate as I was too tired to make something separate for me. I used portion control and don't feel I ate poorly, just not as planned.

Wayne, I took my kids 15, 13 and 10 to see SuperSize Me at the theatre this summer and we all thought it was excellent, great 'food' for thought. I think it's good to be cynical about certain things at a young age. In our case, however, he was preaching to the choir as I have not set foot in a fast food restaurant since Jan. 2000 and never will again. (Just my choice, I make no judgement on other's choices). Giving up that kind of crap food was too easy I'm just way to good of a cook to slum it anymore}( :7 !

Carole,

I'm trying to follow Eat to Live also - I like the simplicity and some of the recipes are really great! My day looks like:

breakfast: grapefruit (1), peach (1) (if I'm really hungry I'll have
an eggwhite omelet and grapefruit - for some reason,
Fuhrman severely limits these and dairy)
Lunch: one apple, one banana, salad with romaine, carrots, 1 c. beans,
low-cal dressing. (sometimes if I'm hungry here, I'll
have a few doritos -real clean, right?)
Dinner: salad with dressing or veggies stir-fried in teriyaki sauce
or some recipe from Eat to Live, especially the ones with
eggplant in them
sometimes fruit if I'm really hungry

(I don't eat this way each day but wish I did - sometimes we go out to eat or my boyfriend has more tempting stuff around and I have some - don't eat too much of this though because it honestly doesn't taste that great once you're eating more clean).

Hope I can stick to this fare today!

Hi future fitness dynamo, glad you are giving ETL a try. It isn't the easiet but I sure needed a change and it works well for me. He does limit eggs and dairy for maximum weight loss in the first 6 weeks, but limits them to Nonfat versions after that if you still want to incorporate them into your diet. You menu looks good, there is also a good vegey site that has alot of info and some great recipes, even a ETL message board! http://www.vegsource.com/ I also have a weakness for chips....:)...although I have been using Lundberg Rice chips or Genisoy tortilla chips. And I did have some rice chips yesterday before dinner. The hardest part for me now is just maintaining my weight loss. So far, so good, I have found if I cheat and still get in my fruits and vegeys my weight seems to stay the same. When I was on the Zone and cheated...I would gain a little...

My menu will be about the same as yesterday until dinner. My lunch salad usually consists of 3-4 cups of various lettuces and spinach, tomatoes, red onions, mushrooms, 1/2 cup to 3/4 cups of beans and about 1/4 of an avocado.
Dinner: Salad with some broccolli added. Tomato-Lentil Soup with Brown Rice (recipe from "The Mediterrean Vegan Kitchen)

Dessert:...yes another smoothie with DH...

For my workout I'll do S&H biceps, back, chest and a 5 mile run...:)...Carole

Tuesday for me.....

Breakfast: 2 hardboiled eggs (as usual)
Lunch: sub in a tub (this is great--a local deli takes subs & turns them into salads)
Dinner: steak & asparagus
Workout: chest, triceps & abs at the gym tonight

I actually started on Sunday & have already lost 3 lbs. Now I'm having second thoughts b/c since I've gained 10 lbs everyone keeps telling me I look so much healthier. I wish they'd stop raining on my parade!x(

Actually people told me i look better when i had more weight (body fat) yet most of the people that told me that were over-weight themselves. Funny that!

Wayne.

Good Morning Everybody! My menu pretty much is the same today as it was yesterday. Its my low carb day so this is what I packed up for work:

Meal 1: mini whole wheat bagel w/1 egg & 1 egg white omelet w/coffee (this I made at home before going to work)
Meal 2: ff vanilla yogurt w/granola & large cup of green tea
Meal 3: tilapia/mixed veggies (broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, squash & zucchini) & banana
Meal 4: large mixed green salad consisting of romaine lettuce, grape tomatoes, artichoke hearts, roasted red peppers, carrots & chicken
Meal 5: salmon & green beans

Last night my cardio was IMAX2 & I gotta tell ya that after doing P90X for 90 days IMAX2 is now Intermediate level for me! Tonight will be Legs & Glutes.

Hope everyone enjoys their day! Kathy:D

I'm liking the "Eat to Live" book too. I am eating meat once or twice a week though and eating FF cheese and drinking low fat milk. I lost 3 pounds last week!

:)

Tuesday check-in. I didn't shop and didn't cook more than one meal so it's a boring meal, but healthy at least!

Hard boiled egg/egg whites, WW toast on the run (note to self QUIT hitting snooze!)
Chicken, brown rice, tomatoes, artichoke hearts
CC, yogurt, raspberries
Chicken, corn tortilla, FF cheese, salsa
Chicken, brown rice, tomatoes, artichoke hearts
CC, fruit

Did my LBWO this morning!

I've been back on the BFL wagon full steam ahead for 2 weeks now and I'm down 3-3.5 lbs and 1" around the mid section!

Colleen

Hi Carole,

I just wanted to pop in and thank you for sharing your results with me! Those are pretty awesome. I know a woman from another board who lost 32 lbs in 3 months using ETL..it's just good to hear that it really does work!

I can't wait until I can put my all into the program, which I think is going to be in in December-January.
