Eating Dirty, Feeling Old . . .

Aquajock

Cathlete
Last night, for the first time in about two years, I ate about 2/3 of a Burger King bacon cheeseburger (on sourdough bread, yet) and some BK french fries.

And this morning I feel like I have one of those Olympic curling 42-lb. thingies on my stomach.

Man, I used to live on that stuff! Now I can't even have a third cup of coffee, a piece of chocolate at night, or two grams of fat over my normal ration now without going into complete vaporlock!

Am I just getting old, or healthy, or snooty about food, or all of the above?

Annette,
I know how you feel. I feel a twinge of guilt if I eat anything with white flour or sugar in it. Oh, and salt is another culprit.
I think you're just getting in tune with what your body really needs. I like a cheat every week, but it always has me thinking about how to eat clean for my next meal.
Some people may think we're obsessive, I just think we're healthy.

Annette, maybe you're pregnant. The last time I craved Burger King, turned out I was in the family way! Those are all foods I approach with caution. Who is the genius who thought to put the bacon, the cheese and a the ground beef together on a (buttered, I'm guessing)sour dough bun? Brilliant. Bet he keeps his cardiologists number on his fridge! Or should!

I cannot eat that stuff anymore either. I've tried a couple of times and it would put me to sleep and then I'd feel TERRIBLE afterwards until that stuff got out of my system.

It's your system changing and your body is telling you . . . "I don't like this food anymore, I'm not used to it, and you're going to pay for it so that way you won't do it again."

I rarely eat that stuff. Only when it's maybe PMS time. I had a MickyeyD's Fish Sandwich about a week ago and I haven't had one of those in about 9 months or so. But I was craving it. I didn't get sick at all and it was the best thing I'd ever tasted. However, I think about it today and it'd make me sick.

You're HEALTHY!

Just my thoughts.

Keta. :D

Bobbi this cracked me up. Genius indeed. Bottom line: fat tastes good! Especially the evil saturated kind.

Annette, I just think you craved something you haven't had in a long time. Perfectly natural. You eat clean 99.9999% of the time - or darn close - so don't sweat it too much. You also workout intensely so I doubt you did any damage. Heck you couldn't even finish it. So you satisfied your craving and then reality set in. I see this as being very healthy and not overly-obsessive, which many of us tend to be. As long as you aren't eating BK every week, you'll be fine!

If you're still feeling guilty, go do Body Max and you'll burn off a lot more than just that burger!

I have a cheeseburger cooked on the grill about once a year and
love it. But, not enough to have it again for a long time. I think when you eat good most of the time and then really crave something for more than a few days you should have it, or at least part of it. I think you are getting healthy. Be proud of yourself!
