Eating before Bedtime?

l23

Cathlete
I'm trying to lose a few pounds without any huge diet changes. I thought I may be able to do this by not eating my usual bedtime snack (popcorn, ice cream, chips, or sweets).

I eat a good dinner around 6, and have a snack between 9-11, bedtime is midnight. I'm not super hungry for the snack, I think it's part habit.

When should you quit eating for the night? Do you have any tips for breaking the "midnight munchies?"

Thanks!

FYI- I'm 24, 7lbs heavier than my "preferred" weight but can't workout for a month b/c of a surgery.

My .02- If I get hungry at night(after 6:00), I eat boiled egg whites or a rice cake. It doesn't sound very good, but it gets the job done (for me at least). Sometimes I do have to force myself to stay out of the kitchen. I lock the baby gate. And I know if I want something I have to hop over it ( and I HATE hoping that thing). My husband just laughs and says "the lengths I'll go to".

I also eat my supper at about 6pm and no more eating after 8pm. I go to bed at 11pm. I usually will have a cup of fat free yogurt or a piece of fruit about 7:30-8pm.I also drink WATER it really does help keep the munchies at bay. Your body will get used to it(not eating late) after a few days. Also try not to snack in front of the TV or while reading or on the computer. You tend to get carried away that way! Hope it helps - Susan
