Easily Modified

Hello,

I'm wondering which of Cathe's videos would be easily modified for dumbbell use only? I'm also interested in something that focuses on lower weight, high reps.

I'm not huge on strength training and would like to try a Cathe, but just don't have the equipment.

Hi Marianne,

I think most of her strength workouts could be modified for dumbells only. The muscles worked may be hit a little differently than with a barbell in some cases, but I think the overall effect would be the same.

As for something that focuses on lower weight/higher reps, you might want to check out Muscle Endurance. I also think most of the weight work in the CTX series falls in that category as well.

Actually, I can't imagine a barbell exercise that couldn't be done with dumbbells. And in many cases, at least with the upper body, the exercise would be more effective because you have to call some stabilizing muscles into play, and you work both sides equally. There is a comfort advantage to using a barbell for squats and such, because you can rest the bar on the back of your shoulders/traps, but if you can find a comfortable place to hold dumbbells (at the shoulders, in a "hammer grip" --I can never put them ON my shoulders: OUCH!-- at your sides, etc.)then that takes away the advantage.

As for lower weight/higher rep workouts: PH, ME, Leaner Legs.
 
Great! Thank you all for the information :) I think I'm going to try CTX Upper and Leaner Legs. Now, off to find a rotation!
