Early Check-in!!

RE: Hi All!

Hey Grandma -to- be!!
Awesome week! Isnt it killing you not knowing the sex of the baby? I would've been nuts not knowing ours. You must tell us everything as soon as the baby is born.
How are the Indians doing out there? :)
Trevor :-jumpy

Hey Murph!
Abs with ankle weights huh? I remember when I used to run with ankle weights on back in high school and it turned out that wasnt the healthiest thing to do.
How do you like Voight Energy Sprint?
Trevor :)

Hi Lynn!
Great week girl!
Thanks for mentioning that website. I will check that out.
Maybe that "extra" 5 pounds is muscle.....you sure put in a tough week!
Trevor :) :-jumpy

Hi Aimee!

Congrats on your progress with Imax....that is a real toughie!!
Trevor :)

RE: Hey, Trevor

Um, I do like Energy Sprint. It's a Baby pre-cursor to the Interval training of Intense Moves, Imax, and Mindy Mylrea, among others. But, Karen had one of the first "interval training videos"--but this is no Imax, rest assured. But, I like it; it's still good. Medium to hard, depending on how your life is that day.

Slightly late but here...

My week has been extremely busy and rushed. The weekend was worse. Oh my, I don't think I could have packed more events or more work into it. I did manage to work out which is good.

MONDAY: Stepping Zone

TUESDAY: MIS

WEDNESDAY: Hi/Lo Heaven 1st section and half of second

THURSDAY: MIS (no abs)

FRIDAY: Hi/Lo Heaven 1st section and half of second

SATURDAY: Picked up hubby at airport.

Hey Murph, my hubby has been in Chicago all week. He did say the weather was pretty nice.
I am sooooo glad he is home how. Really missed him. It was priceless watching our 2-year-old light up when he saw his daddy.

Gotta go. Here is to a less eventful week!!!! :)

RE: Thanks Trevor!!

Burgers, brats, brat burgers, chicken breasts, and dogs. No ribs though, boy those sound good!! I haven't have ribs off a grill in so long.... So, who won between the one on one with your 14yr old son;-)? In quiring minds want to know:)!! Have a good week!!

I've been there. Sometimes workouts "save you" and sometimes you can create a source of guilt around them. Ferggedaboudit. Take care of yourself.

Trevor, I've done the 4 a.m. thing and for years I did the 5 a.m thing (typed thong!}> and have decided that that must be the RARE exception for me at this point. I do better at 7 a.m or noon or 4 p.m.--anytime but 4 a.m.!!

DebH: do the parents know the sex and are just not telling--or prefer not to know themselves, too?!

Hey Murph!

No, Julie & Scott do not know the sex either and don't want to know!! They want to be surprised with their first! I can't say I blame them but sometimes, I just want to KNOW!!! My hubby (GRANDPA) wants to know more then anyone. We've waited 8 months, I guess we'll have to wait one more! I'm with you on the 4:00 workouts! Not!!

RE:

Thanks Trevor. The fitday site is pretty neat but input at first is time-consuming. Once you get a lot of foods on your personal list it is much quicker. I tend to eat the same things often.

As far as the weight you might be right. I do seem to have a little more definition. The bodyfat % is around 17% but would like it to be 15%. My husband just says to stay off the scale. Probably good advice but I just don't want the 5 to get up to 10... Oh well.

Hey Trevor!

Yes, we can't wait to see what this lil' miracle is going to be! I'll post as soon as I can after the birth! It's been fun following Brandon's birth and his pix after.

The Indians are on the Warpath!! They have won the last 8 games!:-jumpy They now have the 3rd. best record in baseball. My hubby & I are going to Jacob's Field next Sunday for Mother's Day as a gift from my daughter & her hubby. All Mom's get a free Indians umbrella that day. Aren't I lucky? Great week for you. Good Luck with those morning workouts.:-sleepy

RE: Great week Debbie

Debbie - Glad your elbow is healing. So are you going to spoil that new Grandbaby? He or she will definitely have one energetic and fit grandma :-jumpy

Thanks for the advice. Today I did a 70 min interval treadmill workout and I am feeling it now. This upcoming week I think Body Max is on the agenda so I will get that metabolism jumping :)

That fitday website is kind of neat. At first it is time-consuming entering the foods but they then get put on a recent list and if you are like me, I tend to eat a lot of the same things so it so easy to add them on. It was an eye opener for me since I really try to eat clean and healthy.

Have a great week!!

Great week Trevor. I love morning work-outs but 5:00 is my time. You just have to make sure you can get to bed early enough and with an infant that doesn't always work.

Hi Ruth!

I am so sorry to hear of your s-i-l's problem. I will definitely keep her in my prayers. Keep us informed on her progress.

As far as my elbow~I'm not sure if it was tendonitis, bursitis or something else. I stupidly NEVER went to see a professional about it and I later wished I had. If it continues to bother you, please go. I basically layed off any upper body weights for approximately 5 weeks or so. THAT was TOUGH! I teach Hi/Lo & toning classes so I knew I had to get it healed so I would just show the muscle rep I was doing with no weights and talk my students thru it. When it came to my Cathe tapes, I just did cardio and lower body work. That was very hard after I had worked sooo hard to get fit. I iced it whenever I could find the time. I also took glucosamine & chondroitin which is a dietary supplement that promotes healthy joints. You might want to consider an anti-inflamatory also after talking to your Dr. I got some great advice from Lynne on this site on what to do AFTER you are healed. Basically, you need to start back with very light weights and less reps and see if the pain is still there. (Continue icing for two weeks AFTER starting back.) If there is pain~STOP! Had I seen a Dr., I might have worked thru my problem faster. I don't know that I have been any help. I just hope & pray you don't have to go thru what I did.

As far as being a granny, NO, I never dreamed I would feel this good!:D Life is GOOD! I've been so blessed with a wonderful hubby, two great children and now a grandbaby! We can't wait. Good Luck, Ruth, and keep me informed on how you are doing.

You have a great week too.

Hi Debbie & Trevor

Debbie, lots of thing affect average bike speed but it takes us about 5 hours to ride 70 miles which includes 1 rest stop. Hills or flats, headwinds, heat & humidity, flat tires, the prior day's diet all impact speed. Urban riding can involve a lot of stop & go which is draining. My favorite riding is rural rolling hills but living in Orange County (between LA & San Diego), I have to use my imagination for the rural part!

Trevor, we did a combo of hills & flat riding this week. We live a few miles inland & headed east to the Santa Ana mountains (they're foothills). There's a long stretch of road without lights which is one of the few places we can really haul. We do have to share the road with the leather biker set! After that it was all urban riding, dropping down to the Santa Ana River (think concrete) where there's a recreational path all the way back to the coast. The wind is almost always blowing in & Sat was no different. So it's like 15 miles of "hillwork". We then get to fly down Pacific Coast Hwy with the wind at our back until we ride inland again. Unfortunately we live on a hill (on the UC Irvine campus), so we always have to finish with a grind up the hill. The terrain here is great for cycling, just a lot of traffic to deal with.

You'd think I'd have killer quads but my knee problem is the result of a muscle inbalance. Hamstrings/abductors are stronger than quads/inner thighs so the knee cap doesn't "track" right. Hopefully I'll gain some insight this week with the PT.

Hey Murph!!
The 5a.m. THONG sounds VERY interesting to me!!! lol!! I definitely have a "thing" for "thongs"!
