DVD technical question

I about threw my step through the TV this morning because of DVD difficulties! Whew, I'm calmer now ...

I was actually attempting Rhythmic Step, and the DVD kept getting stuck. Now, I know there are hiccups here and there when it switches to dual layering, but this seemed to be there forever, or maybe it just seemed that way. I ended up FFwing past it since it wasn't going on. I took the DVD out and cleaned it, and that seemed to help (maybe) but I eventually got frustrated enough that I went to MIC.

Does this happen with everyone's DVDs? Is it just more noticeable in cardio? Every one I have has a hiccup here and there, but this was pretty long. I don't think it's my player because it's only two months old.

Thanks, Rose.

I do Rhythmic Step a lot and have never noticed a hiccup, so I don't think the layer change is in it. If every DVD you have is doing this it does sound like your player. If it's new you might have a defective laser or something. I'd check into the warrenty. Unless all your discs have scratches, that's all I can think of. My Donna DVD fell out during shipping and has a whole bunch of superficial scratches, but it plays just fine, so they would have to be fairly deep I think. Not much help I know, but it doesn't sound like it's the DVD's fault.

I have had a few hiccups here and there with RS. I had one the other night with SH Legs during the warmup and I have had some with Power Hour....actually, I think I have had a few hiccups with all of Cathe's most recent DVD's. Never had a single glitch with CTX though. I always panic when this happens because I read in a previous thread where someone discovered that certain players will not play the "new technologies". Oh great - don't tell me they're going to make it so you have to go out and purchase a new DVD player every couple of years.

You know, I let RS run twice tonight, and some of the longer hiccups were gone but there were still some. And, I always get them during IMAX. I have not noticed them on some other dvds I have, including Cardio Hits.

I've never heard of fairly new DVD players not playing certain technology. I have an Apex dvd player (a cheapie, about $60 at Wal-Mart) that is only two months old. Are there any technical-savvy folks out there who can help AngelaP and I?

Rose.

If yo bought your Cathe DVD's from SNM, they all have a lifetime warranty. Email them and they'll help.
I have no glitches in any that you mentioned, but Cardio Hits is a glitch party! I keep meaning to send it back...

My Cardio Hits is also a glitch party.
Wendy, have you talked to SNM about sending it back? I'm afraid I'm just going to have to buy another one, but I don't want to wind up with the same problems.

Hi Stephanie,

I haven't gotten around to calling or emailing them, but I know they have a lifetime guarantee on all DVD's bought from SNM. I just have to get around to doing it, but I've been exploring new cardio options lately so haven't felt a huge rush. As long as you, or they, have record of you purchasing it from SNM, there shouldn't be a problem. I was so thrilled when I read in the catalog about the guarantee, because the glitches have been there forever, and I also thought I was going to have to buy a new copy.
