I realize that diet and cardio habits have a lot to do with this, but which one of Cathe's lower body workouts will shrink my thighs. I want them to get smaller rather than build up bigger muscles. Hope that makes sense. Thanks in advance for all your help! I wish they would put the Original Buns of Steel with Greg Smithy on DVD. Anyone else love this dated video? Now I am way into Cathe so if anyone has some recommendations to shrink my big thighs I would be grateful.

For weight workouts, I really like Butts and Guts. The low, or no, weight work exercises really lean out the legs. I also like Legs and Glutes.

For cardio, try Kick, Punch, and Crunch (kickboxing) and Low Max (step workout). I've noticed that these two are always on Cathe's rotation for the lower body.

ETA: This rotation is great for leaning out the legs. I don't have big legs, but I noticed that this rotation really made my muscles seem leaner and not bigger. My goal was just to get really fit and "cut."

I agree with the above poster. Although I think Gym Style Legs is a good choice as well...its more endurance than heavy weights...plus that floorwork is killer. }( Oh, and try the premix on B&G...the Leg Blast one. Oh dear, no weights never hurt so bad!:p

Sorry it's not a Cathe workout but have you ever tried Squeeze by Tracy Effinger? I noticed that my lower body looked leaner but more defined with less bulk after doing it for a while. But that could have been because I was replacing x number of Cathe workouts with it, and it's just less intense. Or it could have been the loads of stretching you do in it. Either way, I liked the results. Although I do hold weights on my legs or abdomen for the floor moves, to make it a little more challenging.

I second Squeeze, really good workout!

Also, try reducing your weight load. I went super light on my lower body with great results! My thighs and rear have slimmed out alot! Just a thought...

I second Conni's suggestion of dropping the weight poundage.

I'm over 40 and have to say that doing approx 30 mins of solid cardio ( e.g. Imax original,or 3, first 30 mins only) then follow up with a leg workout, Leaner Legs, buts and guts, gymstyles lower your weight AND do some of the sculpting exercises two times (hurts a lot BUT you should see results) AND pilates or yoga leg a couple of times a week.

I'v just started this type of working out, but I'm seeing results! But I need to do somthing for the lower body nearly Every workout. BUT I am not completing a full buts and guts or a full gym styles. The only one I will do in full is MIS leg section, Love that one! But using lighter weights.

I would agree with the KPC and LowMax suggestions. I worked legs heavy (weights) for a month and my pants got very tight in the thighs - not what I wanted. I then substituted more lower body cardio (kickboxing and biking) for the lower body weight work and that not only helped, but I can tell my hips are not as wide. It may just have been the "doing something different" as I previously was not a kickboxer. Or these particular methods are good for slimming the lower body....??
Good luck!

Butts and Guts is cathe's best lower body workout IMO and it's not a heavy weight routine.

Having said that, you can't really target weight loss. To lose thighs, you will need to burn fat which is obtained first and foremost with a proper diet and a consistent exercise program that incorporates HI cardio and resistance training.
