DVD converter box

Hi,
I've noticed several posts about not being able to have/use a dvd player because of lack of spots to plug into the tv.My in-laws had this problem also and we fixed it quite easily. They sell these small boxes that have extra spots to plug things in,it's pretty simple to do just follow the directions,i got it for them at Radio shack and i imagine places like circuit city or best buys would also sell them.I am not positive that its called a dvd converter box but i am sure if you ask the clerk they will know what your talking about.I paid about $20 for it ,i got the one without the cables because i already had some ,so if you dont already have extra cables make sure you get them.
Hope this helps someone,Have a great day, mrsscififanec

Sounds like an RF Modulator to me. Anyone with a VCR and DVD Player hooked to a TV without DVD compatible AV inputs needs one. Because of technology issues, VCRs cannot be used as a "conduit" to pass DVD signals through to the TV. So in order to hook both to the TV at once, you use an RF modulator box. It converts the DVD output into a channel 3/4 signal which is compatible with the TV.

I have only one spot on my tv to plug anything in and it's already was already in use when I bought my dvd player. The box they gave me at Circuit City to to hook the DVD video feed up to my tv was called a "converger." Don't understand it, but it works.

My TV has only one hook up on the back and that is the cable TV antenna.

Will this converter/converger/rf modulator plug into that?

Hi,you are most welcome and yes it will work with just the one plug in the back of your tv,i think that you'll have to connect the cable to the box and then have a cable from the box back to your tv. Don't worry the box will have directions on how it goes, its not hard.Lucky you the intensity series, ive used up my purchasing ability for the next couple of months but hopefully santa will be good to me and get me the intensity series for Christmas hehehe !!
Have a great day,Mrsscififanec

I had to get a RF Modulator and also an "ABC Switch". (The ABC is just a small plastic gizmo with two settings that, if memory serves me well, goes into the modulator). If I want to view a DVD, I switch to B, if I want to watch VCR, I switch to A. My 25-year old RCA TV was not made for all these technological innovations.
(Maybe I had to get the additional ABC switch because I have a double VCR?)

I must have at least a dozen cords, cables hanging behind my audio/visual equipment. So just a suggestion: After you're hooked up successfully, jot down which cords and cables went in which holes in which equipment and keep this info with your instruction manuals. Also, draw a diagram of the back of your systems (video machine, TV, DVD, RF, (and ABC switch if you end up needing one). This way, if you move, or one of your systems has to go in for repair, it'll make it so much easier to hook everything up again.

Have fun!

Love my RF modulator.I purchased one that allows you to plug in up to 3 pieces of equipment and then you just push the button on the RF modulator corresponding to the piece of equipment I want to use. I like it a lot better than the 1st one I bought which didn't allow me to choose so easily.:)

YIPPEE!!! It really works....Bought a two-sided RF modulator at Radio Shack for $35. Plugged the VCR into one side and the DVD into the other side. Works like a charm.

And to top it off, my intensity series arrived. YIPPEE!!!!!:D :) :) :7
