dumbell vs barbell

Hi, everyone!
I need your help again.
For some reason, it is easier for me to use dumbells for bicep curl exercise than barbell with same weight.
With barbell, I struggle more to finish with good form and tend to use momentum towards the end but with dumbells I can actually keep the good form and finish the rep. Do they give much different range of motion for same workout? Or am I doing something wrong for me to feel easier workout with dumbells? Is one better than the other for a particular exercise?
Any response would be appreciated.

Just finished doing GS BBS and Cathe mentions as she is getting ready to do bicep curls with the bar that if we are more comfortable with dumbells, go for it.
 
Actually working out with dumbells is probably better since most people are stronger on one side than the other. Using dumbells helps even out the strength.

The difference in strength on each side is probably what effects your form also.
