Dumbbells-only DVD's?

Can someone recommend a good dumbbells-only strength workout for beginner to intermediate? Thanks!

OOPS! I read your post too quickly before answering, and see you want beginner/intermediate workouts.

Many of Cathe's workouts could fit the bill: just use the weight that's right for you.

If you are looking for NON-Cathe workouts, you should post this question in the "Open Discussion" forum, as this section of the forum is just for questions/discussion about Cathe's workouts.

(here's my original post, which I hated to get rid of, and which still may be of some help!):

Many of Cathe's workouts use both dumbells and barbells: the latter especially for lower body work, even when upper body is worked with dumbbells.(Many of Cathe's squats/lunges are done with a barbell, which is often easier to manoeuvre for these exercises.) One I can think of off-hand that uses just dumbells (unless I'm misremembering) is PUB. Maybe the S&H upper body workouts as well?

There are some cardio + weights workouts that use dumbells only for the weight portion, like "Cardio and Weights".

But don't let that dissuade you from picking up other workouts. You can always use dumbells instead of a bar for any move. I know several forum members do that. In fact, some moves (like bench presses) are in some ways better with dumbells (because each side is worked separately, promoting balanced development and recruiting the core a bit more).

I don't own a barbell (yet?) and have a lot of Cathe's w/o and have not yet felt the need to go out and get a BB.

I have GS, Pyramids, PP/SS, 4DS, LIC, BM2. Jari's shows alternatives too.

I would say there are fewer w/o's that have BB in them then all that have DB.

As a beginner, I loved Cardio and Weights. The weights-only premix uses just dumbbells and was an intro to me of Cathe's strength workouts. I also like Circuit Max, which uses only dumbbells. Before I had a barbell, I used these workouts a lot.

However, in both these workouts the cardio portions are definitely intermediate to advanced. Once I got them down, I loved both workouts!

have a great day,
Dawn
