Dumbbell rows for pull ups

Hi Cathe,

I workout in my small bedroom and can't fit a pull-up bar/tower. I was just looking at the substitutes and noticed that a band would be hard to attach for lat pull downs. Could I use bent-over dumbbell rows instead?

Thank you!
Marie

What I"ve done to sub for pull-ups/chin-ups in another workout series, before I got a pull-up tower, was 1) do pullovers in their place (the pullover movement is closer to the chin-up/pull-up movement than is a rowing movement) then 2) use heavy-resistance cords (the ones with handles) with a door attachement ( www.sissel-online.com has a good one) that I wedged in the top of the door, then I'd kneel down in front of the door and do a pull-down (if the cords are too long to get enough resistance, knot them).

HTH!

Thank you for the suggestions.

I think pullovers would be a good option. The door attachment would be a problem for me because our dogs live in my room and we keep the real door open and have a special kind of door for them. :D

I was just thinking of the band pulldowns in Low Impact Circuit and was wondering if these could be used in STS with a much heavier resistance band instead of pull-ups? I think I have one of the heaviest (silver) and never get to use it...
