Drill Max circuit with a medicine ball

I just finished the entire Cardio Fusion workout and when it came to the Drill Max circuit #3 using a stability ball I substituted a 4 pound medicine ball. (Due to the fact that two stability balls have been punctured in the last two months by my husband and children having way too much fun bonding------grrrrrrrr) I must say that I preferred it. It certainly intensified the circuit and I liked the fact that I could see my T.V. When I get brave enough to plunk another 20 bucks down for another stability ball I just might continue doing this curcuit with my medicine ball.

Hi Cheryl,

That's what I use instead of the stability ball. It works better for me. I'll leave it at that cause no matter what I type it just reads wrong.

I use a 7.5-lb rubberized weight plate for Blast #1 and blast #3 (the stability ball one). Makes a big difference. For some reason I like using weight plates rather than med ball for most weighted cardio work; I think it's because I can grip it better (especially with sweaty hands). My goal is to work up to 2 5-lb weight plates by the end of January for DM.

Hmmm that is a good idea, thanks for sharing. I have space problems & those lunges in the last drill are pretty much impossible for me.

But I don't have a med ball >10lbs. Maybe I'll try it w/a 5 lb dumbell.

That is a great idea. I use a 6lb med ball for the first cardio drill because it just feels better in my hands than holding a dumbell. I never thought to use it for the last cardio drill w/the lunges.

I'm doing DM tomorrow night, can't wait to try this out.

Thanks for posting this!

Yep - I use a 2 lb. med ball (equivalent weight to the stability ball, but can go up easily since I have 2, 4, 6, 8 and 10)- even in the warm-up for Butts & Gutts. I had thought about a smaller stability ball, but I really like the med ball.
