Downloadable workout site suggestions?

Hello, Sportsfans:

A friend and fellow gym rat wants to start using the gym more frequently. She has an iPod, and I told her I would poll my friends in fitness here to get recommendations for online, downloadable workout systems (for-a-price and freebies if any) that she could put on her iPod.

I've read many post titles here about "iTrain" (and its iTread and iClimb), etc. I've also seen the title "Cardio Coach".

Any, AND information - including website addresses - and consumer opinions about their quality and value would b appreciated.

THANKS IN ADVANCE!

I've tried a few out there, but iTrain rocks my world. Love, love, LOVE iTrain. Good music, effective workouts, great instructors. If she wants to try before she buys, use code YL2007 at checkout. It's good for one free download. www.itrain.com

I also prefer iTrains. I did try a couple of Cardio Coaches but as I use them for my Elliptical I feel the iClimbs from iTrain are better and for me, tougher. I do use some of the iTreads on my Elliptical but that is for an easier day. My opinion could be different using these workouts on a Treadmill....:)

I have never downloaded any workouts like this before... I don't have an mP3 player.. can I download on to a music CD? and then use the workout playing on a player? As you can see I am not really up on all this stuff! I would love to try the free download.. is it any one you want? I couldn't find the instructions on how to download, I assume they come up after you have put the code in etc

I use and love both the Cardio Coach and iTrain (iClimb and iCycle specifically) workouts - these were the only things that actually convinced to buy an iPod. I think the production value of both are of very high quality. I think the coaching styles in each are very good...very motivating without being annoying or overbearing

The iTrains are nice because they're equipment specific and have a variety of different music in each workout. A plus of the Cardio Coach workouts is that each workout is chaptered nicely into several tracks so you can make them longer, shorter, etc. I've never tried it, but I bet you could use iTunes to create...dare I say...mish-moshes! }( }( }(

Another forum member posted a VF link with an iTrain promo code for a free workout. I used it yesterday and it still worked. So your friend could try one out at no risk. The code is YL2007. It's from Yoga Life magazine.

Here are the web site links:
iTrain - http://www.itrain.com/
Cardio Coach - http://www.cardiocoach.com/

Cardio Coach has very good samples of the workouts so you can get a good feel for the music, coaching style, and challenges before you buy.

Hope this helps!

Hi Deb,

I've been downloading and using burning workouts from both of these sites on CD and using them on a portable CD player or stereo. iTunes works nicely for that. I just bought an iPod (which hasn't arrived yet) so they'll be easier to use in the gym.

I bought 3 iTrains yesterday and used the promo code. There's an "apply" button you hit before checkout so you can see it get applied. It actually gave me the most expensive workout for free! Gotta love that! :) Yes, you get the download links after you checkout.

Cardio Coach entices me to do cardio. No other cardio workout has had this affect on me. The coaching and motivating are the strongest elements of the CC workouts. I'm inspired by Coach Sean. He makes me WANT to achieve my goal -- to push myself through to the finish, and he makes me believe that I CAN do it. iTrain is very good, too, but not quite as motivating for me as CC.

Thanks, everybody! Looks like iTrain and CardioCoach are the way to go. I've e-mailed my friend with your info.

AJ-

I also am a Cardio Coach user for both TM and elliptical and recommend them.

Here is one more suggestion, if your friend is a Treadmill user , tell her to chek outPodrunner Podcasts on Itunes. They are paced evenly and specific BBM and a new one is available each week for free. They can also be downloaded from a website called DJSteveboy.com You may even be intrested in that web page your self for aqua classes.

Thanks, Judy! I'll be seeing my friend this morning, and will pass this info along to her then.
