doing abs work wrong?

I usually skip abs completely or don't finish the segment. Recently I decided that I was going to really work on my abs since it is the only flabby area left so I bought Core Max. My question is I have done #1 and #3 and my abs don't burn during the workout and they aren't sore the next day. I have compelted the entire 20min and done all the exercises. Why don't I "feel"it? Am I doing the exercises wrong? Last night the ball felt like it was slipping on #3 segment but I was trying to do it so I could feel a burn. Any advice?

Do you "feel" it anywhere? Perhaps you are putting the emphasis in the wrong place. When doing ab work wrong it is common to pull on your neck with your hands or use your neck muscles to pull you up.

It sounds silly, but for me I really didn't feel the ab exercises until I had done them consistently for several weeks. My neck muscles etc.. were so weak, that they had to catch up before I could really focus on my abs. Also, as my abs have gotten stronger, I am able to really feel the peak contractions during the workouts and I feel much more of a burn now than I ever used to. Have you tried any of the Core Max premixes? I prefer those to the 3 standard segments. I think there is one called "complete core". You should give that a try. I also love the core work in Butts & Gutts. I really feel that the next day!

I have to agree w/ Wendy. If the emphasis is shifted, even unknowingly, chances are you won't feel like you probably should. Try to concentrate hard on the muscles involved and really feel the contractions. I know it took me some time (over the course of 2+ years with Cathe) to really pay attention to what she was telling me and work hard with every rep. It is easy to space out or lose concentration with the ab work which can also do it.

Ditto. Focus on the muscle your supposed to be working AND squeeze. If I close my eyes I get a much better workout on my abs as I can really visualize the muscle contraction. Try it.
