Does Anyone use Colon Cleansing Products

schnebbles

Cathlete
I got a free magazine at the HealthFood store, and going thru it I found a huge advertisement (you know the kind..long 2-3 page ads), on colon cleansing.

It got me to thinking is this perhaps a good idea? I did a little research this morning on the web, and it looks like it might actually be something to consider. I'm not necessarily going to buy the product on the pages long ad, but it did get me wondering.

Does anyone have ANY input at all regarding this subject?

Thanks!!

Kathy: I have a history of colon cancer in my family, so I like to take preventative measures. I go for routing colonoscopies, and while I have never seen the ads to which you refer, I do have a serving a Citrucel every night. I have a cousin who is a sports medicine physician and is very into preventative medicine, and he told me that if I do this, I'll never have to worry about colon cancer. I don't know if it's 100 percent true, but it surely can't hurt. Just thought I'd let you know.

Thanks Lynda!

I posted this over at the Firm YaYa board and haven't had any response, so maybe the idea isn't so popular! I just hate to waste the $$ if it's not worth it.

Just be sure you get plenty of fiber in your diet. That's the gyst of "colon cleansing". The rest is pretty much hype, imho.

Hi Kathy!

I have psorisis so a clean colon is very important as it keeps my skin cleared up. I like using Yerba Prima's Women's Renew Internal Cleansing. I get it at the health food store; it is designed for a two-week cleanse or a 30-day cleanse. I opt for the 30 day as it is gentler. I first used this system last June and was amazed at how my skin cleared up. I use EFA's as well. I'm getting ready to do the "Spring" cleaning. Internal cleansing is very important; just as important as eating fiber-rich foods everyday. I know what it has done for me. Other internet search for more info would be Bernard Jensen. Since I have been keeping the "house" clean and in order, I rarely ever have stomach upset or heartburn.

Kathy,
I have read many good things about it too. Its definately worth looking into. I have considered it myself as well, but just never had the actual nerve to go do it. Alot of celebrities get it done...I think Janet Jackson being one of them. Wish I had more info on it for ya.

I remember a while back considering using such products but then read an item in a mag looking at various treatments.

Personally I would love to try colonic irregation (many because I do have problems with constipation) maybe one day but after I read a UK mag doctor they quoted basically stated that a healthy colon should cleanse themselves without help. And such products really shouldn't be considered by people how have no real problem and for those who did he suggested adding more fibre and water to your diet, before trying such products and they could interfere with normal function.

. A receptionist I worked with last year did try one of these things and she had good results (I will point out she was very slim and very fit)I personally didn't think she needed to do it as she at well and was very active went to the gym regularly and such.

Anyway just my thoughts
