Does anyone here have a gym membership?

Hi everyone. I came here to cathe.com to look for a few strength videos to mix things up a few days a week and now im addicted! All of cathe's videos look so fun and intense and i cant wait to get the ones i ordered and start them!

My question is though, does anyone else have a gym membership and how do they rotate them with these tapes. I have my memebership for another year or so and i want to keep it, but i dont want to waste my money by not going if these tapes seem to 'replace' what i do there.

Thanks!

In the past 5-1/2 years since I've worked out w/ Cathe, I've had 3 gym memberships, and barely used any of them. I even work in a fitness center, and use the equipment only occasionally - just the dip station and the back row machine right now. Once in a while I'll walk on the indoor track. I guess for me it's a waste. For any of you who feel you need to justify the cost of the DVD's, here's your sales pitch to use on any spouse who objects to your spending money on them! Cathe brings out workouts once or twice a year, and if you pre-order, you're certainly saving money over a gym membership! Plus, I daresay, you'll be more likely to workout 'cause you're at home. PLUS, you'll save gas $$ since you don't have to drive to a gym.

I do. I've been doing Cathe workout for at least 4 or 5 years and about 2 years ago I joined a gym. I joined to lift heavier weights for my legs and back workouts. I didn't join for anything else, but then I tried out some of the step classes and I really enjoyed them. I found two(advanced)instructors that teach very similiar to Cathe's stlye and choreography. I like live classes, as well as having my own space.

I take 2 spin classes, 1 double step class, and 2 step classes. I workout at the gym when doing lower body training, unless I'm doing endurance and then I'll use one of Cathe's workouts. I fill in with Cathe's stuff in between or double up on some days. As for upper body, I use the gym or home depending on my mood or schedule.
I consider the gym cross training for my muscles.

Depending on your goals a gym isn't necessary.

I don't have a gym membership, since I know I'd never go. With videos and equipment at home, there's no excuse not to work out. The idea of getting ready to go somewhere else to work out isn't as motivating as looking at my weights and step in "my" corner of the rec room.

I have a gym membership because I needed a place to swim in order to train for triathlons. I don't use the gym as much as I should, maybe once or twice a week. But, it's also summer here in Michigan, so it's easy to ride my bike and run outside. I'm sure I'll go to the gym more in the winter.

I use Cathe's workouts for weight lifting. She pushes me much harder than I'll ever push myself, even at the gym. And, even though I have the gym memberhsip, I did just order the new DVDs along with the Intensity Series. I've been wanting to try Boot Camp since so many people rave about it.

I also share my home workout space with my husband, so he encouraged me to join the gym so he can use the basement whenever he wants. It seems to be working out well so far.

I do all my weight training at the gym. I use Cathe's cardio workouts only, typically during the week, early in the morning before work. I also incorporate other cardio--elliptical & recumbent bike at the gym, running on the weekends.

We joined in July. I've been twice, but my dh goes nearly every day because he likes to swim. We also like the family pool for the kids, as we have no other outdoor pool available. Maybe in the winter I'll go more often. The classes I've been to are similar to Cathe's. I'll only go on weekends even when I do go, because during the week I workout at 5 am, but I can't leave because my kids are home and my dh leaves before I'm finished.

Yup. We have a discounted rate through hubby's job. I like to have the gym for variety & to go super heavy on some weights. I also love various aerobic classes and I'm a big spin freak, too. I just like to keep things changing :)

I've had a gym membership for years but I use it only for special event training (bike tour training, walk training, etc.) and for some cardio classes. Recently I have decided to supplement my Cathe workouts with gym weights but haven't started just yet. I think that if my membership was not as inexpensive as it is, I might consdier cancelling but b/c it is so inexpensive adn I use it for events and cardio once or twice a week, I keep it!

I have a gym membership, through my office. I use it pretty frequently actually. I work out to Cathe in the AM and go to the gym in the PM. Today I did GS Back, Shoulders and Biceps. I'll go to spin class or for a run (can't figure out which yet), this afternoon. If I run, I'll shower at the gym. Tomorrow is Triceps, Chest and Abs then I'll do step at the gym. I'm trying to lose weight, so I like to get in Cardio daily.

I tend to go the gym 2-3x a week and do Cathe 2-3x a week. I like the variety. You aren't supposed to do step every day for cardio, and I know if I do step 2-3 days in a row my ankles ache. I do circuit training at the gym, cross training, HIIT, and steady state cardio. I rotate Cathe in at home and choose workouts depending on if I need another circuit workout or just another cardio. I also like the gym because I can do the heavier weights there, e.g. I leg press over 265 pounds. There is no way I can do that at home. So a week might look like this:

Sunday: Gym, 1.5 hours circuit training
Monday: Gym, 1 hour cross training cardio with blasts of HIIT
Tues: Cathe, Cardio & Weights
Wed: Cathe, Step Heat
Thurs: Rest
Friday Gym, 1.5 Circuit Training
Sat: Cathe: Step Blast

I have one, it is cheappp, share it with DH who goes, I only go maybe 1x a week. There have been times in my life where I had the time to go to the gym 4 times a week for 2 hours at a pop, but those days are gone. Now I go once a week for either a body pump class with a buddy(I do GS the other days, so I hit each muscle group 2x in a week, total) or I will throw it in for an extra cardio day, say for a kick box or double step class or something. When I get tired of jumping around my spare bedroom in front of the TV! LOL! It is nice to have, but if it wasn't so cheap I would probably drop it. When all my little ones are in school, it is possible I will use it more but I suspect I will still be enjoying the flexibility and time savings of my home workouts.

I am getting very good results with Cathe so I can't say I am really suffering by not going to the gym like I used to. I would probably be able to lift heavier at the gym, however, as I am approaching the point where I might need/desire a rack, etc.

I have 2 gym memberships actually. A cheap one and a good one that I go to 2 times per week. I guess I am different then most on this board cuz the gym gives me incentive to work out harder - all the people around me all trying to achieve basically thsame goal. At home its too easy to skip a workout. Also I have many Cathe videos but they are the same every time I do them so I get bored (gasp!) of them - even in rotation) For me it gets boring doing the same routine by the 3rd time so a live instructor helps mix it up a bit. I dont work out everyday but I go to a gym 3 times a week and I will do cathe maybe once a week - twice if theres no classes or a cancelation at the gym.
