Does anyone have any Favorites?

Does anyone have a favorite workout DVD they can recommend? It doesn't have to be Cathe, as I already know all of hers are favorites!

I've been reading the thread about the Windsor Pilates DVD and thought what better way to find the best workouts than to ask all of you!

Thanks!
Nicole

Hi Nicole,

Cathe is definitely the best, but there are a few other DVD:s I use for a change of pace. I should add that I haven't really found ones that compare in intensity to Cathe, but just for variation here's what I do:

Gin Miller's Intense moves for an interval workout (not quite as intense as the imaxes in my opinion, plus it's a little bit shorter. I love Gin though, she's great!)

Kari Anderson's Hot Steps for low-impact step, pretty dancy. I also like Kari's Angles, Lines and Curves II (not for developing muscles, but nice for something different).

Christi TAylor for some dancier step and fun hi-lo (I got the hi-lo heaven etc. 4 workout compilation DVD). Not as intense as Cathe, but gets pretty close. Also, if you like more choreographed stuff, it's great! Time flies by doing it.

Charelene Prickett's Crazy for Step. Pretty low-impact, steady-state step routine that keeps the heartrate up pretty good. Production isn't anything fancy, but a fun basic step workout.

Top of that it's mostly Cathe...;)) nice to hear what others do, though,

enjoy your week,

Maria

My favorites are:

Rhythmic Step / Interval Max / Maximum Intensity DVD (I-Max The Original was the first Cathe workout I ever did, and after having done it literally over 200 times it remains my fave, but RS and MIC rock as well)

Circuit Max / Cardio Kicks DVD (if I don't do C-Max at least 2X a month, adding in the CK power drills at the end, I get the heebie jeebies)

Boot Camp / Muscle Endurance DVD (the Boot Camp cardio only and cardio + lower body premixes are my faves)

Terminator DVD (Gauntlet is my fave there)

CTX DVD's (too many great segments including cardio and ab/core work to list)

I-Max 2 / Cardio Weights (love I-Max 2 and am creating an Ultimate Mish-Mosh with it as we speak; plus the ab/core routine in Cardio Weights is worth the price of the whole DVD)

Those are my absolute faves. Have many others that you could never pry from my hands. Only Cathe for me.

Hi Nicole! I happen to LOVE anything that Janis Saffell puts out even though she's intermediate she makes me feel sooo good & energized after I do one of her workouts. Her latest kickboxing DVD Hardcore Kickbox Circuit is my favorite as well as Rodney Yee's new DVD Power Yoga. This one is so beautifully produced I feel very serene & relaxed after doing this workout. My other favorites are Yoga Sculpt and Yoga Focus from Karen Voight. Just thought of another one: Terri Reeves Kickbox & Bootcamp. She's a Southern gal & I just love her energy & bubbly personality. I'm always smiling when I do her workout. And there's always Mindy Mylrea; she's chatty but I just love her personality too. Kathy:D

Mindy Mylrea's Awesome intervals, Breakthru Body Blast with Tracy and Michelle (not on dvd though, but I love this one!), Karen Voight Energy Sprint (oldie but a goodie and on dvd), Firm Total Body Shaping Mix. And strictly ab work, Kari Anderson's Curl. I haven't come across too many newer ones that I like as much as Cathe that's advanced enough. I will get looking in the Fall. (Really, Breakthru Body Blast is alot of fun). Check it all out at Collage Video.

For my cardio and weight training I can't do anyone but Cathe (I've tried others but nobody does it like her). However I also add yoga and pilates to my weekly rotations and my favorites are Baron Baptiste (for my yoga) and Mari Winsor (for my pilates).

Thanks so much for all of your ideas! I've already checked out a few at Collage and they look just great. I really need to replace some of my oldies that just don't do it for me anymore!:D

Nicole :9 :p :+

I don't have many cathe's yet ;-) , but thus far my favourite has to be the Viper. I had DOMS like nobody's business for 3 days. I can't remember the last time I was pushed that hard, it was awesome. The music was great too, very motivating.

I do Cathe and Winsor (completely different than Cathe although there are some moves that I see in Body Blast series but Cathe does alot more reps) I am looking into yoga but am 40 and I don't know wich ones to start with. (I don't want to be asked to put my feet up behind my ears or anything, not just yet anyhow) Has anyone tried Poewer Yoga for Happiness by Eoin Finn? If so what did you think? I can only do Cathe for Weights but I think I want to round out my routine with weekly stretching and pilates as well. I hear alot about Christi Taylor but have not tried her yet.

Hi Shicks! If you'd like to experience yoga you must start off slowly. I would recommend Rodney Yee's 20 min. yoga tapes or DVDs. These can be found at gaiam.com. You must first master the salutations as well as upward & downward dog positions. Also recommend Karen Voight's YogaSculpt. Both of these DVDs are beautifully produced & their both wonderful instructors. As for Christi Taylor her choreography isn't broken down very much, she teaches very fast even though she's intermediate. I have a difficult time w/her step routines but for some reason not her hi-lo. Go figure that one out! Ha! There's also a new 30 min. stretching DVD from Janis Saffell just in case yoga isn't to your liking. You can find it at janissaffell.com. Happy shopping! HTH, Kathy:D

I have to vote for "Winsor Pilates Maximum Burn Super Sculpting & Body Slimming." (50 minute workout).

That is my absolute favorite right now.

(besides Cathe)

Thanks KathyH, I orderd the Janis Saffell 30 minute stretch tape, I will start with that, it is preorder right now I think it will ship in June so I will have something to look forward to! Thanks so much for the direction, I wish cathe had a stretch only tape!
