I enjoy snow for Christmas, but here in the Bay Area I have a better chance of winning the lottery. 
So, we either pack the family and head towards Tahoe, or we enjoy the Bay Area er, ah, "Sunshine" (it's supposed to be windy and rainy here for Christmas Eve and Day). I can definitely see wanting to have snow on the East Coast, but here, winter is actually our "green" season, so it's really pretty (well except when it rains, but as we need it desperately, so I'm not complaining).
I've also lived in El Paso, Texas and I have photos of DD15 (then 3) in front of our tree in shorts and a t-shirt.
