Does anyone else eat cereal for dinner?

LOVE breakfast for dinner. Being from Jersey, my husband and I were confused why people here in MD. look at us like we are crazy if we want pancakes for breakfast. This summer being at the pool so late we have a lot of breakfast for dinner meals. My kids love it!! Its the only dinner(besides hot dogs) they eat well. :) As long as its healthy cereal I think its a great dinner.
PS- I just found whole wheat pancake mix. Love it!! I make mine, then through some choc. chips in there for the kids for fun.
Deanie:)

sometimes I make pancake people with eyes and mouth from choc. chips (my kids are 10&6) they love it. It gets complicated when they ask for race cars!!
Deanie:)

I love cereal for supper, and I think it's healthy. I don't like sugary cereals, so I have Total, corn flakes, etc., with fresh fruit and 2 percent milk. It's just sweet enough to cut the craving for cookies - well, some of the time . . .

Sometimes there are days when I really want cereal for dinner but since I usually have cereal for breakfast (the healthier varieties), I guilt myself into having a salad instead to get vegetables. But I usually wish I had eaten the cereal!

What a cool idea!!! I usually eat Kashi Autumn Wheat and I like the Kashi Blueberry OatFlakes (not sure the name exactly), I could mix those with some fresh blueberries. Awesome tip!

Oh yeah, we love breakfast for dinner too! My kids will eat that up & love choc. chip faces on theirs too! I have a recipe for whole wheat & oat pancakes that I LOVE. I usually eat them w/ PB (I hate syrup). Aunt Jemima does make a WW pancake mix though!

Oh, and speaking of cereal I found Oatmeal squares on sale for $1.99 a box so I bought 2. Hmm... cereal for dinner tonight?? :p

Hugs,

I'll be the one negative note here. I think it's fine to eat cereal for dinner once in a while, or even more often if you're a eating a big, healthy lunch. However, for many people, dinner is their primary opportunity for getting in their daily vegetables. I'm just concerned that if you're eating cereal for dinner too often, you are missing out on your veggies. I think it's important to eat a wide variety of veggies and fruits, and to eat them everyday.

That's my little negative two cents worth. :)

ETA: And make sure to check the sugar grams on your cereal. Do not go by the cereal "image". Melrose mentioned Total which I believe is packed with sugar, unless they've changed the recipe in recent years. Also, I believe that the Kashi cereals with the word "crunch" in them have more sugar than the other Kashi cereals.

Nance - I eat tons of fruits and veggies throughout the day, so I don't worry so much about having cereal for dinner. And I don't do it every day either.

Yes, the Kashi crunch cereals are higher in sugar. That's why they make up a very small percentage of my custom cereal mix;)

While they are in season, I've taken to throwing blueberries in most of my cereal to get the added benefit. I think it's a good point to make that cereal is ok, as long as it's not replacing the fruits and veges that we need to be eating. I love fruits and veges, but have to make a concerted effort to get in enough each day.

Love cereals for dinner. I no longer use kashi Crunch. They are too high in suger and not enough of fibers and protein. I only use Nature's Path Optimum. They have several different selection and I love them all. They all contains one of highest protein and fibers and taste great. Look for them from Wagman and Trader's Joe.

They also have the best tasting oat meal.

Try the Nature's Path Optimum. They taste like similar to Golean but better with higher protein and fibers. You will love them.

Haven't heard anybody mention Kashi Organic Autumn Wheat? Anybody try this cereal. Not many ingredients and I didn't even look at the sugar content. It has evaporated cane juice which I know is still sugar but I love this cereal!

Get serious...let's talk the good stuff, like Capn Crunch Peanut Butter Crunch, which just happens to be the be-all, end-all of cereal. I love it so much I can't have it in the house. My son loves it on vanilla ice cream, also!

For those of you shaking your heads at me, I eat my All Bran flakes and Yogurt clusters faithfully each morning...x( }(

Ok, honestly - I LOVE Trix! I can't have this in the house either because for me it's like peanut butter cookies, I can't just have one, I have to several bowls. Just can't seem to get filled up on pure sugar and preservatives}( :7

I started a new eating pattern where I eat a dinner meal in the morning and breakfast at night(lunch is still normal). I felt crazy cooking chicken breast at 7 am and eggs or cearal at 6 pm but I have to say my body loves it. My late night kitchen raids are a thing of the past. And the energy I have when I exercise!!!! WoW, I will never go back. I am the only one in my family that eats like this so I have learned to make my self several meals at once and reheat when needed. My husband thinks I am nuts too. Personally I think it is easy on the body to eat lighter food in the evening. When I say cereal I mean fiber not sugar.;)

This sounds like a good idea if I could get used to it. Makes sense too because it seems like the majority of us are looking for something a little lighter in the evenings and we all know breakfast is a great thing. I may try this.

BTW, I haven't had Trix in years. Bought a box about a year ago and didn't realize it had Splenda in it. I'm picky when it comes to sweetners (really don't like any of them) so I gave the cereal to a co-worker.

I eat cereal for snacks or dinner all the time. In a lot of ways it's a comfort food. It makes me happy to sit there and eat the same thing I did when I was a kid. I feel the same way about carrots dipped in peanut butter. Sometimes I bring a lunch to work and realize that it is EXACTLY what I used to bring in 1st grade. Not on purpose, but just cause I am who I am!
