Does anyone else do Low Max with a 6" step

I'm sort of a newbie to Cathe and my legs were sore from Butts & Gutts the day before, so when I tried Low Max with an 8" step I just knew I wouldn't be able to make it through the whole workout. So I quickly changed to the 6 inch. I was just wondering if others use the 8" with this regularly or ever switch to the 6" depending upon how you feel.

RE: Does anyone else do Low Max with a 6

I do! I'm fairly new to Cathe, but I'm a bit older than some (47) and my knees just need the break sometimes. I'm also a step klutz and I trip less when I'm doing 6. My heart rate still is up there, so it's all good ;-)

RE: Does anyone else do Low Max with a 6

You made me feel better....I'm 49 and was thrilled that I was able to do the whole thing!!!!!!even if it was the 6".

RE: Does anyone else do Low Max with a 6

I do everthing on 6" step-
1.: Overworked knees after 30 years of high impact aerobics
2.: My thighs bulk too much on 8
3.: Better execution of moves since I dont have to worry about missing the lift on the extra riser.

I do everything on a 6 inch step too. My knees would just give out if I did any higher. But I still feel it

I, too, do everything on a 6 inch step. The extra intensity is not worth the stress on my knees. I see my mother limping through life with her overused and undercared for knees and I do not want to make the same mistakes.

Thanks to all who responded, I really appreciate it. I think I'm going to use the 6" only too from now on. I did LIC with the 8" and I found it a little "stressful" as well.

RE: Does anyone else do Low Max with a 6

I always use the 6" segment. Being a smoker it's harder to use the 8" segment.

Don't worry your not alone. :)

RE: Does anyone else do Low Max with a 6

For years I have ALWAYS done step at 6 inches. I think I am too short to go higher and maintain control.

Please accept my apologies, upperwests, for starting that new thread on the same topic. Sorry.

RE: Does anyone else do Low Max with a 6

Yes I do! 8" just feels too high. I'm 5'6 with a long torso and short legs. I do however push myself a little harder to make up for that lowered riser}( !

Before I found out I was pregnant, I had recently worked up to doing at least part of Low Max on an 8" step. But now I am back to doing it on a 6" step and still think that is a great workout, especially considering how long Low Max is. I wouldn't worry about it. Just do what you feel is best for you. :)

RE: Does anyone else do Low Max with a 6

Thanks to all who responded.....I think I'm going to stay at the 6" height for awhile!!!!!Maybe forever....who knows!

RE: Does anyone else do Low Max with a 6

I'll do one of the premixes on an 8" step because they are all around 45 minutes. If I have the time to do the entire workout, I keep it at 6".

I too only use the 6 inch step for all the cardio. I am only 5'2" so I feel like it corresponds with a taller person on an 8" step. I don't know if I'm cheating myself here but it seems to make sense. When I used to do The Firm I stayed with a 12" tall box while others were using 14". Does it make sense to you like it does to me? I pictured a 6' tall person doing a workout and the 6" step to them would seem like the 4" one to me, which I have actually tried and it feels strange. Plus the 6" stretches and stresses my Achilles' tendons quite a bit as it is, so going higher with the 8" is out of the question for me.
