Does anyone do a date night with their SO/DH?

Just curious. My SO and I were sans kids last night and we had a very enjoyable evening eating at a really nice restaurant, going out for ice cream (so forbidden, I know, lol), and watching a movie together. Oh, and the "OTHER" activities I won't detail here, lol. }( }( }(

We were talking about having a regular date night since it is pretty easy to get caught up in the day-to-day daily living, so I'm thinking about other things we can do. I don't like to make everything about food (well, I do, but I can't, if you know what I mean, lol).

Curious (nosey) about what you all might be doing....

Unless something up with family comes up (our kids are grown), DH and I have a date night every Friday or Saturday. We started this when DS and DD left for the army and college (at the same time) in 2001. I love it. We have connected again after years of putting ourselves on the backburner for the kids.
 
You know, we don't have a "set" date night but he or I will randomly call out one & expect it. Sometimes I feel like you guys may know more than he does! When we do have this night out, it really helps. There's no other way of putting it.

We try for at least once a month, sometimes twice. I think it is important to set aside that alone time as eventually it will just be the two of us (well, at least that is the goal)!

I just don't want to wake up one day to an empty house and find ourselves staring at each other thinking "now what"?

Actually, Tammy, we've done that -- during those rare nights when our son falls asleep much earlier than usual.:) :(

He usually goes to his laptop to work on his backlog, and I either come to this forum or watch all those forensic shows on A&E. We need help. Sigh.

We made a conscious decision about 6 years ago that every Friday night would be our "date night". It isn't about what we do, just that we do something together. Usually, we go to our favorite restaurant, have a nice dinner and visit with friends who are regulars there. Sometimes he will even go to the mall with me and shop... mainly just looking and browsing. He even sits patiently if I want to try something on! :p Have I got a Prince or what? :D
 
My DH and I have done date night for years. We aim for every week, and probably get in 2-3 per month. We keep these high priority in our schedules.

We have been married for 21 years and at this point we don't need sitters. Even when we did, date night remained a high priority. We also get away alone at least one week per year and often a long weekend too.
