Does anybody own...

those funny push up things that stay rigid on the floor to do push ups ? I have just been watching the preview of MIS, and I am wondering is this piece of equipment necessary ? For those that own the workouts what are the differences between Powerhour and MIS ? And can they be done on the same day as a cardio workout ?

Many thanks
Anna

I will take a stab at answering your question about the push-up handle bars and leave the technical differences between Power Hour and MIS to someone else (I do own both). I do own the push-up handle bars and do find that they help a little bit as far as the push up position being less stressful on your wrists. I use them off and on. However, I have found that my push-ups have improved more by doing planks and now I find that the push ups are not as stressful on my wrists.

As far as doing cardio on the same days with Power Hour or MIS, I would only do a short cardio session (30-45 mins max) with these workouts, if any. Hope that helps, Sandra

Hi Anna,

I own a pair of push up handle bars but I rarely use them. I got them initially because I could feel a lot of stress on my wrist when doing push ups, but as my wrist strength grew from resistance training, I've not had to use them. I did find them handy initially.

Differences between PH and MIS are that PH is much faster paced and more reps than MIS. PH usually requires most people to go a little lighter with weights, where MIS, although about 2 sets of 16 reps for most exercises, allows you to go a little heavier with weight, or at least I find I can go much heavier with MIS than I can with PH.

As for being done with cardio. If I do PH and a cardio in the same morning I am wiped out! PH alone is like a cardio for me, it gets my heart rate going big time! But I can do a 30min cardio prior to MIS since the rep speed is slower in MIS.

I dont own pushup handle bars, but do substitute by using a pair of dumbells to grip while doing pushups. I can do more pushups this way b/c it's easier on the wrist.

Hi Anna,
I'm not Donna and I don't own BodyPump, but I do have PH. I've heard people say they're similar, but PH uses heavier weights. BTW, PH is fun! I do it every Fri. and then do 30 minutes of cardio afterwards. Unlike Donna, I find it hard to do cardio after MIS because it's longer and i go quite a bit heavier on weights.:)

Thankyou Everyone for your good advice - and what a good idea, I never thought of using dumbells instead !

Anna :)

Hi Anna,

Yes, Body Pump is a lot like PH, only shorter in duration, 45 min.

And I do my cardio before weights when I'm freshest. Cardio takes more out of me than weights does, so I do cardio first, then weights, and the only workout that cardio first effects my ability to lift is PH. PH alone is enough for me! Sometimes I may do PH in the am and then do a cardio in the pm, but for whatever reason, I cannot give PH my all if I do cardio prior, and you can forget me doing it after PH cause I am wiped out!

Donna,
I have a pair of them I got on clearance at Target. To be honest I like using my weights better. My pushup bars are very light and seem to cause more problems then they help. They are always falling over.

I like the weights better:)

just my 2 cents
