Do you wear shoes around the house?

Omigosh, I'm weird! I thought my DH was weird for going barefoot all the time, but it turns out I'm the weird one!

Interesting post, limecat.

Bare feet or my socks and slippers, depending upon the season. I am all for uber comfort.

Debbie

I'm not gaining weight. I'm retaining food.

We try to leave them at the door because we have a gravel driveway. Otherwise little gravel stones that get stuck in shoe treads leave little dents on the wood floor.

I try to mop 1x week, but if I don't the bottom of my socks gross me out and force me to do it.

>I usually wear a sandal in the house, like
>Naots or my new Finn Comfort shoes.

I just purchased a pair of Naots to wear in and out of the house. They are the shoes my feet go into straight out of the bed so that I don't have to walk on hardwood floors barefooted. OUCH! I LOVE these Naots! It's my first pair, but it won't be my last.

What do you think of the Finn Comforts? I've been eyeing them online! :D

I do not wear my shoes in the house. It is just not sanitary so I do not. I do wear bed slippers in the house and I have told my husband his friends can not wear their shoes in the house b/c one of them steped in poop and did not even bother to take their shoes off. I guess it was not his house so so what?

I would go barefoot 24/7 if I could and I pretty much do from May until November. I never wear shoes in the house. When I was growing up my parents were pretty easy going but it used to drive my Dad bonkers that I wouldn't wear my slippers, guess it was a throwback from him living in a house with very cold floors.

Nancy, I hear you about getting in to bed with dusty feet, I sweep a lot and we use our bidet more often as a foot washer than it's intended purpose;-)

Take Care
Laurie:)

I can not stand to be barefoot. I wear slippers around the house. Dh wears shoes and ds wears his socks. I don't have anything against shoes in our house (and our carpet shows that! x( ) but I'm just more comfortable in slippers.

Shoes come off when you come in the door. I usually wear socks all day, slippers if my feet get cold. The biggest problem with taking shoes off is they tend to accumulate in our very small foyer. In the middle of our very small foyer. In the middle of our dark, very small foyer. Get the picture? I get so tired of tripping over DD or DH's 6 pairs of shoes , when I never have more then two pairs tucked close to the wall.

Shoes are the first thing to come off when I come in the door. The bra is the second!! (TMI?)

Anyway, since DH has breathing problems, we try to keep the house pretty cool, especially in the summer, so I am usually found with either socks or slippers on my feet. Anything to keep the tootsies from being cold!

No shoes when it is warm enough & snuggle socks (think i got them from title 9 and oh so comfy) when it is cold!

I would never wear shoes or socks if I didn't have to!

I wear socks or nothing in the house. I have specific workout shoes for home.
I have greyish white carpeting . Wear shoes and i might get a little upset....
Not a dumb question....I am picky...

I'm surprised at the responses here. A few of you say you wear socks around the house. Let's say you walk around the house in socks all day, on wood floors and tile, you walk thru a small puddle in the kitchen, then you curl up on the sofa with your feet tucked under you. Now you're sitting on your dirty socks, or you have to make the effort to take your socks off. Why not just wear slippers that you can slip on and off without even bending down? I don't get it. Please clue me in.

I only make a point of taking off my shoes as soon as I walk in the door if it's wet outside. If I am not wearing shoes I go barefoot, w/sox or slippers...I'm not picky in that way. I also keep towels by the back door to wipe the dog's paws if they wet or dirty.

To me not being "allowed" to wear shoes in one's own house is a bit too strict for me. It's my home and I want to LIVE in it...not treat it like a museum. JMHO ofcourse. :)

I'm with you Nancy... I wear slippers all the time in the house, even when it's 90 degress in the summer.. I hate walking barefoot on ceramic tile or hardwood floors and feel some gritty dust or milkbone crumbs on my feet ugh!

I can certainly understand that! When I run to put something on my feet to avoid that feeling I know it's time to wash the kitchen floor!:p

That's it exactly, Fox! Why step on icky stuff if you don't have to? My floors are pretty clean, but life happens. Why step in it?

Not wearing shoes is very liberating...you should try it sometime. Being barefoot can be sexy :)

Seriously, I don't think about the dirt on my body every waking moment :) As a matter of fact, I think most Americans are so anti-dirt/germ, their bodies are losing the capacity to fight off illness and infections.

I like shedding my clothes a large percentage of the time, slippers are not something I want to add to my wardrobe :)

I guess it's what you're comfortable with :)

Nancy, I wear white socks and, by the end of the day, they're not dirty. My house isn't spotless, but it's not like I'm walking in dirt and puddles all day either. I have 4 children and no pets. We all take our shoes off either before entering the house or as soon as we come inside. If I feel like my socks aren't clean enough, I change them, but that doesn't happen very often. I love wearing socks - they're like a security blanket for me. :)
