Do You Use Workout Sheets?

Would love to get a sense if lots of people use the workout sheets to record their weights( poundage) and progress- and if you have done so, has it Really helped increase yuour progress?

I've been working out for years and have never done it, but am going to start-- tomorrow. So I'm looking for support in that direction, to keep me going when I just put the sheets aside.

Also- funny question, but do you record the weight right after you do the exercise, or do you wait to finish your workout to record all from memory?

Tks in advance.

Yes, I always use them and record my weights. I quickly write down the weight right after I do it now because I found at the end of the workout, I would second guess on some. The main reason I like knowing what weight I use is basically so I don't just guess at a weight. It also helps to speed up my rest period by knowing what weight to grab quickly without having to think about it. Plus, knowing what weight I have used in the past makes me want to go heavier if possible. If I am almost ready to "up" my weight or felt like I could possibly have gone heavier, I put a "?" next to my weight I am previously using to try to go heavier NEXT time I do that exercise. If I am able to go heavier, I just cross out the previous weight and write the new weight number next to it. Hope this makes sense.

Yes, I agree with Debbie H. I write down my weight so I know what to use the next time. Also, if I have to stop lifting for a long time period because of my shoulder, I know how I progressed. Melissa

Thank you both for replying- and it really does work! I found myself feeling much less casual about my workout and accountable-- to myself, ofcourse;). This has also given me a feeling of re-motivating myself as far as workouts go-- and also looking at the ( many) ones I have in a different light.

Thanks so much for your help.

Personally, I don't use them. It might get depressing for me if I don't see results. My clothes are my best progress item.

I did when it all got computerized. I wouldn't do it otherwise. And I record all my STS workouts in the Workout Manager. It definitely does help keep you on track because you can see your progress.

Donna- when do you record your weights on Workout Manager- before, after-- or during the workout? What I've done in the last few days is print out the sheets and then record as I go along.

Tks,

I have my laptop with me and record them during the rest periods. I also recalculate the 1 RM while I'm doing it, if I need to. Usually I'm recalculating it to a higher weight. I really don't like printing things off and will avoid it as much as possible.
