Do you have trouble fitting in workouts this time of year?

Every December it seems I accept that my workouts suffer. With Christmas shopping, kids sick, cookie baking, cleaning, appointments, work and school events I have a difficult time squeezing in workouts and I am even a very organized person. I got an early start this year but it seems that I will still be preparing till the last day! I had planned to get the rest of my shopping done today, but of course, my daughter is home sick. On a positive note, I had planned to miss my workout today, but I should be able to get one in this afternoon. It may be the last one for a few days, so I better make it a good one.:D As much as I hate missing workouts, it's also a fun and exciting time of the year too. :) Can any of you relate?

Oh boy can I relate! This week, I've gotten in one workout, that's it, and it was only for about a half an hour. Of course it doesn't help that I'm running an office by myself this week. Next week I'm sure will be better.

not so far.. but then i get up early in the morning to workout before work!

what i do have trouble doing is riding my bike! but that's not the holidays, but the weather and the early dark! i'm looking forward to the high 70's weather we are finally having and some nice long and WARM bike rides this weekend!

RE: Do you have trouble fitting in workouts this time o...

I can relate too. It's very tough being consistent this time of year for me too. I have been focusing on circuit workouts to assure I get a little of everything in. I just want to make sure I maintain my muscle and weight this month. I will worry about other goals after the new year.I just try to eat as clean as possible too. That's always a big help;-) .

Aila:) :) :)

I've been having trouble since before Thanksgiving! Not only am I busy doing holiday stuff, but DH is traveling for work a lot this month and I usually do my workouts in the evening when he's home to watch the kids. If I get 3 workouts in a week between now and Christmas I'll be happy. I'm making them intense workouts to make up for it, but I still miss working out every day. My diet has been terrible too, but I'm planning on cleaning up in both areas come Jan 1. I can't complain though, I've been very good this year so I guess I can fall back a little. Thank goodness I'll be getting Hardcore soon!

If it weren't for working out in the very early a.m., I would also be having trouble. I've been doing holiday-related stuff almost every evening after work, as well as on weekends. However, since I always work out before work (and during my lunch break) I've been doing pretty well. On weekends I also have to make sure that working out is the first thing I do or it just won't happen during the holiday season.

I haven't missed a workout yet but that's because I work out at 5:45 in the morning. If I didn't work out then, I'd have many reasons NOT to workout. But, there's no time for an extra workout in the evening-Oh well, maybe in January:)

This is the first year I am trying all angles to not miss my workouts. We had a visitation last night, and I told DH ahead of time that I wanted to leave late enough to workout first and then go. SO.... I worked out while he got the girls a bath and got them ready}( Oh, it was great having him help out. Saturday we leave at 7:30 to go see Santa and the rest of the day is busy, so I WILL get up at 5:30, I WILL get up at 5:30, I WILL get up at 5:30.

I know this year the tree stood for two days without lights or ornaments because I would exercise first and then there wasn't any time left. Finally I got up early one day and put the lights on. Kinda nice not having the little one help me with those.

It's crazy and just try to do the best you can. Some days it will workout and some days it won't.

I love the holidays too.

Last week - six workouts . .

This week - ZERO! I feel gross.

Tomorrow I will workout. Your right about one thing. If it's done in the morning then you don't have all day to excuse it . . .

I refuse to miss a workout. Seriously, someone has to die for me to miss one, and even then, I will make sure the jump rope is in the car if we are out of town. The only time I missed this past year was to recover from minor surgery. I COULD have exercised because I felt up to it but was told not to by my doctor to prevent hemotoma. It was so HARD!!!

Right after having my kids I made some strict rules...I take care of the kids first. Beyond that, if my workout is the ONLY thing I accomplish the rest of the day...so be it! Laundry, floors, bathrooms, vacuums...all had to wait until I was done working out! When my kids were only a few weeks old, my workouts took FOREVER so that O could stop to nurse, burp, change diapers, etc. But, i got it done! This set a very important stage that I didn't realize at the time...my workouts are part of their routine and it is second nature to them as well.

I go first thing in the a.m., too, otherwise I might not get it in at all! I don't do anything until my workout is in...unless the kids need more cheerios!!!:D

Not only because of the holidays, but because it is the end of semester and I'm busier preparing test and giving oral exams, yadda yadda yadda, I have less time to work out. My way of dealing with this is to turn to the shorter workouts in my huge collection, so I can do a 20-45 minute workout to maintain. Power Half Hour (from Beach Body) has some good 1/2 hour weight workouts, some that also incorporate cardio. Core Secrets has workouts that are between 20 and 45 minutes.

This time of year is tough in every way...time, too many goodies!:9

I work out before work too, but from pure exhaustion have still missed one or two. I consider that good enough!

Hang in there everyone...Hardcore will kick our butts right when we need it!

One thing I did that has really helped is get a programmable coffee make. I can't believe I waited so long to get one. I can't just get up and workout I have to have a cup of coffee. Now it is ready as soon as I get up. A really nice surprise was that on the internet it said if was $59.99 at Target. When I went to Target it was $49.99 and when I went to pay for it it was on sale for $39.00. I love it.
