Do you have a weight range or just one number?

Like, I'm 5'3" & I try to stick between 110 & 115. If I go over 115 I feel uncomfortable (as in my clothes feel tight, which I hate), & if I go below 110 I know I look kind of sick.

On the other hand, I have a single number which I believe is my ideal weight (you guessed it--it's right between 110 & 115 :p ), whether it's right or not.

That said, I don't really go by that single number. My weight fluctuates quite a bit within that 5 lb range, whether it's b/c of water retention or bad diet or whatever. So rather than try to stick to one number I try to stick within a range, if that makes sense.

What do you guys go by?

I go first by clothes
Next I have a range 122-127 that I feel most confortable. Usually mine is BF when I gain beyond 127 and clothes are always tighter at 127 with a higher BF% so I tend to "DO SOMETHING" when my BF creeps up.

I don't have a specific goal weight, but I do have a goal range. I am about 20# away from that range right now and have been there since last summer. I read in the YOU on a Diet book that it's healthier to have a range instead of a single number anyway.

Lauramax,

I also stay within a weight range. Mine is a 10 lb. range though x( . During the winter it's the "feast or famine syndrome" and I hate it. I'm just not as active through the winter, so I tend to put the weight on then. I'm 5'5" and range from 117-127. I do try to shoot for a steady 120. When I drop below that I'm accused of being anorexic, emaciated and just plain to skinny. Plus, my doctor likes me at 120.

Oh, how I wish I could stay at one number, but with peri-menopause hitting, stress and what not I don't think that is going to be possible. Maybe some day I'll be able to figure it all out, lol.

I have my body fat done every year and use that to estimate my weight range....man you people are all so tiny...my weight range at 19-25% is 175-181 and I'm 5'8"(not that tall). I even had one non-execiser say she felt sorry for me because no matter how much I worked out I would always weight alot....I told her not to worry about me I was happy with my weight (as I sercertly thougth I could pick you up and yard dart you)smiling sweetly.

I try to stay between 115 - 120. I feel good at that weight but 115 is ideal for me. Don't think anything below that looks too good on me.

I pretty much allow myself about a 3-5 pound fluctuation in weight as well though I start to feel "fat" very quickly so anything over 2 pounds bugs me. x(

I know the scale is not even close to the most important factor. Doing the X has helped me to remember that one but before I knew any better I was dependent upon the scale for years and it's a hard habit to break. I must admit that the # will still bother me....x(

Laura - for some reason, I thought you were taller! Didn't know you were a fellow Petite Section Shopper!

I kind of like 104, but am almost never there. I'm at 112 now, and am NOT happy about it!!!! But I give myself a break because I just spent 6 months on the sidelines from my ACL injury. Trying, trying, trying to become a regular exercisor again. I started back to Tae Kwon Do last week and it was quickly evident how out of shape I've become!!! Anyway, I'll be satisfied at 106.

So....if you all don't see me posting for a few days...send me an email to make sure I'm not being a lazy a**! [email protected]. :)

I don't own a scale. I only get my weight when I'm at the doctor's office, or sometimes at the pharmacy while I'm waiting for my prescripiton.

I'm 5'3" also. I looked and felt my best for years at 105-107. It wasn't until I got over 123 pounds that I started to exercise. The pounds came off easily at first. Now, it's fluctuating between 113-115. I'm not sure how I would look at 105-107 now that I'm older. My body isn't as muscular as it was 4 years ago. If I dropped another 8 pounds, I might look sickly skinny and flabby. I'm not sure if I should focus on losing those pounds or building muscle without gaining weight. So, I'm going to just keep carrying on with exercising and eating healthy. This is all so new to me.

Oh! My MIL showed me her pictures from Christmas. I couldn't believe how heavy I looked, especially in my face. I really let myself go -- eating whatever I wanted and living a sedentary life. I'm so glad I finally got my butt in gear and started working out!

I'm 5'5" and I have a range of 101-105. I don't like going below or above that. I adjust accordinaly. It's nice to know someone else does this too.

Wow, alot of you gals are around my height (I'm a bit over 5' 3") and even the most of the taller ones weigh *alot* less then me!   YIKES!

It's just a number...it's just a number....I wear a size 4 for heavens sakes! I am **NOT** fat!

It's just a number...it's just a number!

Okay, I feel better now!;)

You're SO right, Wendy. Go by how you look and feel. And whether you need to go shopping for bigger clothes. I refuse to shop for bigger clothes...I'll wear 'em tight for a few weeks while I drop the 5 lbs.

I have not shopped for BIGGER clothes since I went shopping for my maternity clothes! LOL I have shopped for consistently smaller sizes since then....I am actually a few sizes down from before I got pregnant but only weigh MAYBE 5 pounds less!:+

The scale really doesn't tell the whole tale I guess...Though I would still LOVE to be able to say I weigh 110 pounds! ;)

A 4 is small. I think much of this depends on build. I'm just very small framed which is why I don't weigh much. The downside is I have absolutely no curves whatsoever. x(

Donna, interesting you mention petites b/c I have such a hard time w/pants lenghts--petites are too short but regulars are too long. I'm too cheap & lazy to get my pants tailored (especially when it has to be ALL of them!) so usually I just buy regulars & let the heels drag on the ground.....:+

I was just thinking about that issue with the petite length the other day. I'm 5'0" and the lengths are almost always perfect for me, so I wondered what all the "tall" petites did? I wondered if I just had long legs for a petite. I DO have a short torso.

That stinks about the pant length. I actually just bought a pair of Banana Republic jeans from eBay (they're normally $100 a pair, and who wants to spend that for jeans). I figured...eh...I got 'em for $25, so I can have them tailored.

Wendy .. LOL ...

<<<Wow, alot of you gals are around my height (I'm a bit over 5' 3") and even the most of the taller ones weigh *alot* less then me >>>

THANK YOU .. I was about to say .. MY GOODNESS some itty bitty people out there .. I am the HUNGA BUNGA woman of the bunch!!!

I am 5'6 1/2" .. long legs .. short torso ..and I weigh 137 .. and feel it is the weight my body wants to be at .. seeing as how it never fluctuates ... I feel better when I am around 134 .. but people say I look too thin at that weight ..

.. considering I do not eat clean like most on this site . and I do indulge in the adult beverages much too often .. and LOVE LOVE LOVE my Southern food .. I do workout every day most weeks (one rest/easy day) .. weights, cardio and yoga .. I think I am doing ok .. size 6 body .. and I feel strong .. confident and "most" of the time like what I see in the mirror ... I will take that!! LOL:7

Oh yeah, it's a problem. Oddly enough regular length jeans fit me OK (maybe b/c I'm usually wearing higher heels?), but pants are always way too long.

I'm so ashamed b/c I'm a What Not to Wear addict & I can just hear Stacey & Clinton saying "Laura have you ever heard of a tailor? Hellloooooooooo........."

Nice job on the BR jeans. Now can you find me a cashmere robe for under $200? It doesn't have to be BR, any brand will do as long as it's cashmere........;-)

I pretty much let the ends of my pants drag on the ground too, Lauramax! LOL I know how ya feel. x(

Poochy Laura, Your weight certainly doesn't seem high for your height. I'd say you are doing just fine girl!:+ FWIW, I am 130# and I'm not even 5'4"! Like Lauramax said though, alot of it has to do with your frame as well. I have a medium frame...if it were small I'd probably be closer to 115 or thereabouts I guess....
