Do you do core work before or after cardio?

Hi,

I've been studying the rotations and all of them look so fun to do!! Anyhow, I noticed that lots of rotations seem to do cardio, then core work. How do all of you do it to get the best results in your abs? Since core work involved muscles, I always thought you were supposed to do strength training before cardio.....

Thanks,
Tina

I think the idea behind doing core at the end of your workout is because the core is central for so many different exercises when you work out -- thus, one doesn't want to wear it out too early in the workout. That's why on BC, there's a premix of everything but core and then adding the core on at the end -- in case there are people who want/need to work their core at the end.

At least this is my understanding. I think I heard Cathe say this in one of her workouts, but I can't remember which one -- maybe MuscelMax -- maybe -- I'm kind of vague on which one that is.

Have a great day.:)

I always do strength training after cardio, dunno y, that's just how I like it. I like getting the harder and longer stuff done first, then can focus on strength training for as long as I want without worrying about "Oh I still have to do darn cardio!"

I agree that it's both because you don't want to wear out the core before you do your other work, or you could lose support (also, the workout before the core workout pre-fatigues the core somewhat), and it makes for a smoother flowing workout to end on the floor, just before the stretch.

The only workouts I've seen that start with ab work are "The Ab Diet" workout with Tom somebody-or-other, and a Firm workout or two.

Kathryn,
Is there a link for "The Ab Diet"? I'd liek to read alittle about it. It sounds really cool! Abs are my fav body part to work:7

Thanks,

~Adri;-)
