Do I need a squat rack and a leg press to get muscles in my legs?

Really. I don't need to lose weight and I am very happy with my upper body. I've been with Cathe for over 6 years but I just can't rid the fat and gain muscle in my legs. (The pear shape is genetic.) I can grab a lot of inner and outter thigh. It wiggles and jiggles. Gross.

I am starting to think that I need to join a gym or purchase a leg press or Smith machine so that I can lift as heavy as possible. :( I will be the first to admit that my diet is not squeaky clean. It's pretty good but it could be better. However, even when I was "too thin" my legs were still movin' when I didn't want them to move. I have almost every one of Cathe's DVDs and do them 5-6 times per week. I know about the 1rms, switching up the routines, etc. My upper body has little fat (genetic) and responds very well to heavy weights.

Do you think I should buy a piece of equipment to help me up the amount of weight I am lifting or do you think I should just accept the fact that my fat is just destined to be on the hips and thighs? I am very frustrated.

I will graciously accept any honest answers. Thanks.

Are there any good hills close by? I found I lost fat in the thigh area from running hills. I'm naturally heavy in the butt/thigh area too.

I am pear shaped too. I always lose on top first and have to beat the fat off my butt and thighs with a stick. I have to have a squeaky clean diet and I squat and lunge heavy weight (meso 3 squat rack) and then to a high rep routine like butts and guts later in the week.

I gain in my butt sooo easily its a real drag, so I sympathize.

Yep, I have to agree with Pinkquinn. If you are prone to carrying excess in your butt and thighs, IMO clean eats and heavy weights are the best thing to tackle the area. It's my problem area too, but with these two things, and time, I've gotten it to where it's manageable. Don't think I'll ever be "happy" with how it looks, but it's a heck of a lot better than it used to be. Good luck.
