Erin:

the best thing to do is go to the page here on cathe.com (or the blog for the new workouts) and watch clips of the different step workouts you are interested in. That way you can see whether Cathe has around the step moves, or how much space she uses around the step so you can judge whether this fits into your space. Bear in mind also, that it is possible to substitute massive space hogger moves with a knee repeater in place until Cathe comes back to her starting point and joins you again, or just do some air jumps in place until she gets back in front of her step. Modifications are always possible since all the choreography is worked out on a 32 count structure, so everything gets broken down within that to 4 beats or 8 beats and you can always find a move to substitute for a "going around the step" move that uses the same beat count. Just pay attention to what foot you need to lead off from once you get back in synch with Cathe and crew.

You need a decent amount of space, which is why I don't do them anymore. I have a small living room and it was a hassle moving the furniture every time I wanted to work out. Clare is right, you can modify if you really want to do them.

How about the small circuit step? Thats the one I have and use. You need to be able to dance around the step. The weight workouts don't seem to take up as much room. I also do jogging/walking outside with my ipod. The MMA workouts don't take up too much room. How small a space do you have?

i have a decent amount and think dancing around the step would be ok i think... I have a small living room. But all the equipment she uses is starting to worry me. I dont have a barbell nor do i think i would buy one. I would do some hand weights and bands. wish i could buy it and return it if i didnt have the room. it just looks so fun and i love her kickboxing one.

I don't have a huge amount of space but I make it work. I also never thought I would use a barbell when I first started Cathe's workouts, but I decided to try one from a second hand sporting goods store to see if I would like it. I am so glad I bought one because I started seeing more results. One of my favorite wo's is the high step challenge. It does not require a ton of space but you do need the high step. Hope that helps! :)

I don't have alot of space from front to back, but have plenty on either side. I make it work, you could try making your move smaller, which is what I have to to sometimes, and give more height.

I have a barbell and really enjoy working out with it, but you can use weights as a sub.
