Do I have to rest?

Hi gang

The other day I did PLB, and then the next day my legs were killing me so I couldn't do anything even if I wanted to. I still wanted to burn some calories, so I did PUB. But then the next day when I woke up, my legs were still hurting. It wasn't too bad, but I thought about my "fitness lesson" with a trainer back then that I should rest if my muscle was still in pain.

Well, I still did IMAX 2, and I managed to finish the whole workout :p ... so crazy...

What do you all think? Do you really stop working out when you are sore?

Personally, no. I often find that if I do a work out my muscles won't be as sore. I DO rest, however, if I start that workout and after the warm up, I just cannot get into it. That's when I know I need a rest.

You did exactly what I would do. You rested the leg muscles for a day, then worked them to get the kinks and aches out. That's my policy exactly, and it works. After all, if I listened to your trainer, I could be idle on the couch for 4 days and I don't think that's doing my legs much good.

You did right, Meow. You worked your upper body while resting your lower body. And doing Imax2 is a great way to keep your legs from staying too stiff and yet give them a "light" workout. When I'm that sore, I do try to do something light, too. I only rest totally when we go out of town and I'm doing a lot of riding, sitting & visiting, and more riding:) Other than that, I prefer a sort of active recovery...a light workout or some stretching or yoga.
