Diff between S&H and PS series?

I was wondering if anyone could explain to me the difference between the Slow and Heavy series, and the Pure Strength series? I know S&H is for strength gains, maybe PS is for endurance?

Thanks!!

Hi Kay,

PS is also designed for strength gains. It's a classic gym style weight workout. It's easier to describe how S&H is different. Slow tempo with lower reps. One minute breaks between sets (like PS, there are usually 3 sets of each exercise). Cathe has incorporated a lot of core work into the S&H workouts with different body angles. It also includes some great, tough plank work. The ab work in PS is traditional.

Cathe recommends using S&H for 2-3 weeks at a time as it requires a lot of concentration. Some people don't enjoy it at all. So if you're just getting one strength workout, go with PS. It's easier to stick with because of the faster tempo.

Yes, PS has a faster tempo and you don't spend a full half hour on each body part (except legs which gets a whole tape). I like Slow and Heavy, but I don't always have time for it. PS is great. You can do both the upper body tapes in one day, it only takes an hour and 15 minutes, especially if you skip the second warmup.

I like them both but they both build strength and if you could only get one, I think it should be PS.

Last thing though, the SH tape includes forearm and shoulder rotator cuff exercises which aren't included at all in PS. PS includes leg floor work which isn't included in S/H.

Well, I went ahead and bought PS as well. I haven't tried Cathe strength before so now I will have two sets of them to get a good idea of what she's like. :) OK, that is really just an excuse to justify the purchase.

Thanks for filling me in!
