DIETING.......(BLECH!!)

After much trial and error, I was able to keep the oatmeal from exploding in the microwave by..

-Soaking before cooking (I use 1% milk and quick oatmeal so its only a couple of minutes but steel cut might need longer??)
-Stopping and stirring oatmeal everytime that it starts swelling up (annoying but it works)
-using a wide instead of taller bowl

BTW, What is the benefit of steel cut oats vs. regular?
 
From what I can tell, steel cut oats are from the whole grain, or the most "unaltered" and unprocessed? Much more fiber and they seem to stay with you longer, meaning you don't feel hungry as soon......



maybe the experts can help more. Thanks for all your suggestions. I will try them.

I actually have some similar bowls I bought at Walmart. They work pretty well. I only have to check the oatmeal once or twice!
