Did you feel really beat up with the X?

P90X, that is... not the manly "ex." :)

I am at the end of phase 1, just starting my recovery week. And man... I have to say, I feel really beat up. I love the strength work and the cardio isn't as intense as Cathe, so why do I feel this way? I'm sure it must be a nutritional deficit of some sort (like my successful avoidance of all tasty things), but today I feel like I could just lie down and sleep for 10 hours. (And I do sleep enough so I don't think that's the issue.)

Anyway, just curious if anyone else felt like this doing the X, or if I am just showing my age here.

Oh good, I thought I was the only one! I have felt WIPED OUT since starting, and I think it's odd considering the intense cardio I usually do, which is either Cathe or a 70-minute interval spin class. I started out with the Phase I eating with all that protein but after three days changed up the ratios, hoping that would do the trick. I do feel better, but worry I'm messing with the program. They make it seem like you have to do everything to a T or it won't work.

What type of eating are you doing? Maybe a meal of "tasty things" would be like zig-zagging?

Maybe it's because even though Cathe is is hard as the X, it's the complete change of routine that we're adapting to.

Marie,

Now I am scared! My new DVDs just came today. I can feel some serious DOMs coming....Mommy?:) :) :) x( :) :)

I definitely needed more rest (an extra hour of sleep, and some days a nap) in the first few weeks especially. I also added some extra rest/stretch days in my rotation as needed (I extended the 90 days to around 105).

I don't think it's a deficiency, or it's the cardio that does it, it's your body needing recovery to grow.

Hi Marie,

I did experience that more in the beginning. I have one week of Phase 2 left (recovery week) and I am feeling much less tired this Phase -- NOT to say it isn't difficult. I think I have just adjusted.

I felt a bit beat up after phase 2. I am completing hell week (the extra zinger week Tony throws into phase 3) and am I feel as if a Mac truck carrying cement has rolled over me. I cannot wait to get into recovery week so my muscles can deflate....:7

During Phase 1 for me I was a little bit tired and worried that I wouldn't be "bringing it" if I did any extra cardio at all (so I didn't). I also did the Phase 1 eating. During my Recovery Week, which fell during Christmas Week, I just felt kind of lifeless for a few days, then began to pick up steam later in that week.

During Phase 2, I bumped up my carbs and started feeling absolutely awesome! I'm now in my 2nd Recovery Week and have tons of energy this time around. My body just loves those carbs.

I hear Phase 3 is a doozy and hoping I will still feel good throughout. I'll just keep an eye on any extra cardio, get plenty of sleep, lots of water, etc.

Just my experience...

Jeanette

I did feel beat up during Phase 2 but I thought it probably came from the extra cardio. Could not go to Phase 3.
