Did Sections 2 of P. Max and S. Works as a "Light" Card...

Soosan

Cathlete
Some of you may know that my husband had bought me the 27-DVD pack last December for my birthday. I've done almost all of the workouts with the exception of those on Cardio Hits and the Classics. (Although I started with Step Heat, Step Jam and Step Fit on VHS as my intro to Cathe cardio.)

Anyway, my body has seemed to want more intense cardio these past few months, so I've pretty much been doing that. Yesterday, I did some power yoga in the morning, but thought I'd do some lighter cardio in the afternoon since I wouldn't be able to work out Friday or Saturday. "Cathe's earlier stuff is much easier," I thought, "Why don't I combine a warm-up and a couple sections of her older workouts to get a taste of them."

I don't know if the second sections are the hardest ones on these, but I was dripping sweat and absolutely wiped out when I was done. Frankly, the warm-up on Power Max with all of the lunges fatigued me!

Did I have an off day? How do you all feel about these?

I think the Classics (S. Max, S. Jam, S. Heat) are definitely easier, particularly since they have easier lo-impact warmups/cooldowns so you're only really stepping for about 30-40 minutes. But the Cardio Hits (P. Max, S. Works, S. Fit) are just as hard as any of her new stuff! IMHO.

I agree with Beth, Step Works and PowerMmax are no walk in the park. They are both tougher than Rhythmic Step and as tough as Step blast IMHO. But you found that out for yourself!

Hi Beth & Clare, I LOVE POWER MAX, THEY ARE GREAT INTENSE BUT FUN STEP WORK OUTS, THEY MIGHT BE A LITTLE OLDER, BUT I find THEM TO MAKE ME WORK UP A SWEAT AND SHE EXPLAINS SO WELL IN POWER MAX, BUT SHE DOES IN ALL HER TAPES, BUT I HAVE REALLY NOTICED THIS IN THE CARDIO HITS DVD. I APOLIGIZE ABOUT THE CAPITAL LETTERS TO TIRED TO CHANGE IT.

I am not yelling at you both, just wanted to say I love them all on cardio hits.

Have a good weekend.

God Bless!!

Debbie:) :) :) :) :) :D :D :D :) :D

Susan, Power Max was the first Cathe cardio workout I learned. And I thought that if that was the typical Cathe routine, I was in for some wonderful butt-kicking.:) I learned Step Works FASTER, but that didn't mean I had to work less. If anything, those blasts she inserts between the sets where you do the entire choreography (a la Step Blast) gets my heartrate up there even now, when I consider myself a seasoned Cathe stepper.

No, you certainly didn't have an off day.:)

You just gave me an idea for a combo. Thanks.:)

Hi Susan:
Woah! That's a heart thumpin', sweat flyin' kinda workout. Certainly not what I would consider a light day. I LOVE,LOVE,LOVE section 2 (and 3) of StepWorks and you are so right about the PowerMax warmup, those lunges warm us up but good!!!
I think A-Jock is rubbing off on you. May we consider this the first of many "Soosan Mish-Moshes".:)

Thanks for the reassuring feedback, everyone!

Laurie, I like your mish-mosh idea. Maybe we could start a thread that lists mish-moshes people have put together that are challenging but not as evil as A-Jock's.

Cathe recently suggested a mish-mosh that was intense but not too evil: CTX S&I (including warmup/excluding weight segment and cooldown) + RS Challenge + SB Challenge/cooldown. I did it last week and thought it was great! I omitted RS, though, because I've only done it once and didn't feel confident enough to handle the challenge without having had some of the choreography broken down first.
