Did anyone START with cathe?

It seems like all of you moved up to cathe from other things. Did anyone actually start this journey with cathe??

I also started with the firm, when they got boring I did a search on the internet for "advanced workout videos" and up came Cathe. I was scared to death, I watched the clips for IMAX 2 and was like "holy sh*t!!". So I did finally break down and buy basic step and body fusion and was hooked forever more. I took a step class in college and loved it, so it was like coming back to that.

Hi Jessica,

I did. You can read all about it in the thread "Who else is new to Cathe". My family frequently spends weekends with other family members who live 3 hours away. In fact, this weekend I'm planning on taking my small step and Basic Step dvd with me, and having my 16 year old niece and sister get into it. If they like it, I'll leave my step and Basic Step dvd with them. I'll purchase the longer step with a couple more dvds to have at home. I think my niece will like it since she's in the country and doesn't like walking/jogging/biking by herself. My sister works and doesn't have a lot of time during the day to do these types of activities with her.

I started step a long time ago when I worked in a gym. I had a favorite instructor and she injured herself and I started to look for more step I could do at home. My instructor's routines resembled Cathe's routines so much I contacted her to see if she knew of Cathe, she didn't. I started with the Timesaver until Basic step came out. Once you learn the "steps" it's easier.

Hi Jessica,

I started with Cathe (apart from just walking). My first purchases were :S&H: Chest & Back,Legs & Glutes, Push Pull and KPC. They were very tough but I used the weight I could handle and only did what I could in the videos. I used Legs & glutes for many months before I could actually complete the workout. Although it was very challenging I was always motivated to keep trying because Cathe was so inspiring and fun.

Well, I used to go to the gym, and long ago I had some home workouts (Buns of Steel, Gilad), but when I REALLY got serious about working out at home, I started with Cathe. (Saw her on FitTV and was hooked.) I started with KPC/L&G, then quickly purchased the Intensity Series. The only one from that series that I found too advanced was IMAX2 and that's because I wasn't at all familiar with Cathe's step. I WANTED to do step, though, so I went back and got the Basic Step DVD and also Cardio Hits - they really helped me learn her choreo and cueing style. Now I own most everything. :) You will, too. :7

my first workouts were the reebok step, karen voight, and kathy smith. i then found out about collage video and started to get cathe and others. she has always been my favorite. the only instructor that i have purchased every workout from. i even have the beginner/intermediate, for times when i am starting over after being sick or injured.

I started with Jane Fonda, Kathy Smith and Tammi Lee Webb. I found Cathe in 1995 with Step Heat and the rest is history. Or would that be herstory.

As a stay at home mom, I discovered Fit TV. The show most appealing was Cathe's. I lifted in colllege and was more comfortable with her lifting workouts than step routines. They were very hard at first, but that challange was good, and has given me a real sense of accomplishment now that I can keep up!

Not cardio - I've been hiking, running, biking, stepping and Tae boing for years .But I definitely started weight lifting with Cathe. I had been playing around at the gym with weights, but didn't really enjoy it. Then a friend recommended Cathe's Maximum Intensity Strength and Muscle Endurance and I was HOOKED!

I actually started with Cathe when she started her work with Step N Motion. Until recently, I had all of her very first workouts. Now I wish I still had them for nostalgia's sake. They were very difficult for me at first way back in 1988 because she was way off the chart and different. Now I'm so glad I've been working out with her for 18 of my 30 years of physical fitness. She's the best!!!

I now am just one DVD shy of her whole collection!!

I started with Taebo in 1997, I stuck with that for 5 years. I had good results, even did it through my first pregnancy. With my second pregnancy I was on bedrest and had ample time to fantasize about the new workouts I would do to get back into shape. I found Cathe in the Collage Catalog. I think I own 14 of her DVD's now. The funny part of all of this is the bench I use. When I was 16 I asked for the Jane Fonda step bench and work out for Christmas. I hated the workout, but kept the bench all of those years, and never used it. I am still using it today. I need a new one, but I guess I am attached to the old one. The only other step instructors I have used are Gin Miller (Reebok) and Patrick (can't remember last name!)
Cathe by far is the best, I have given her dvd's as gifts to so many, they all love her.

I started with a couple of old Firm tapes someone gave me. I thought I was in pretty good shape. The first cathe dvd I purchased was basic step/body fusion and was hooked. Even that beginner DVD taxed me more than any Firm tape I had done.

I love Cathe's workouts and even got my husband started with a Cathe rotation and has seen very good results.

Nope. I started YEARS ago with Tae-bo and the Firm. Then quit exercise.

Then 2 yrs ago, I re-committed to getting more healthy lifestyle, I started with Leslie Sansone, the progressed to the Firm, then to Cathe.

Cathe is my first experience with fitness videos, other than yoga/pilates, and I'm completely hooked. I'm an experienced exerciser and gymster, although I stopped going to the gym a year or so ago after I set up my own home "gym" (a set of dumbells, a bench, stretch bands, heavy bag, etc). I found a gym is completely unnecessary -- all you need are some dumbells and your bodyweight. And I love my pullup bar! I play a lot of sports outside as well, so that's my cardio.

I like Cathe's workout philosophy, especially all the weight and strength work. My first dvd was Boot Camp/Muscle Endurance, which I think is fantastic. I like all the circuit training.

No, I didn't start with Cathe, but kinda of sort of fell in line with Cathe. I have other workouts I enjoy, The Firm, Fitprime, Jari, pilates, etc., but for advanced workouts, I'll stick with Cathe! No other instructor, I find I enjoy most for advanced workouts IS Cathe. All others don't even compare.

I earned my 1st degree black belt in Tae kwon Do in high school. Years later I purchased the Lifetime Membership to Fitness USA, which I never used, Then years later after my twin girls I started with Denise Austin and she got too easy and after having my son I found Cathe on Fit TV I was hooked last January I purchased all her videos and all the equipment this year I upped my membership and have been back to the gym every Tuesday and Thursday and Saturdays we have been spinning.

I was a "sometimes" exerciser until Cathe about 2 1/2 years ago...First series was CTX (am kicking myself for getting VHS), then came the VHS sale...Minus $100 to the checking account...Then Body Blast (fell in love with DVD), and have added ever since...I never realized how annoying Denise Austin was until Cathe...Every other tape/DVD in my workout "library" has since been passed to friends...nothing but Cathe for this girl!
