Did anyone else break their band on firewalkers?!

I'm on a Butt and Guts Leg Blast 'kick,' and I've been searching for the best way to do firewalkers. I started with the round Spri Band (I've used red, medium tension, and dark blue, stronger tension), and they both leave bruises on my shins. So, I switched to a pretty tight circle on the dynaband -- but it broke after three times doing the workout. So, I'm now back to sore shins. ]

Does anyone else have these issues? I LOVE firewalkers, and I think my shins will get used to the rings. And, I don't want to go through bands so quickly. But, I did like the band version better.

Have you tried one of the thicker bands? I'm using purple and they feel pretty good. My green one hasn't broken BUT it is definitely stretched so I can see how that happens.

That's interesting about the spri bands causing bruising - do you need to wear tube socks, maybe?? :)

What I use and works well is the "Challange Band" that Collage sells. It's item #9056 and costs 4.95 - I don't think they charge shipping for this item. I have to turn it into a figure "8" for the firewalkers and it works great! It was originally sold for the Tone It Up workout of Kari Anderson's. It's very comfortable on my ankles.

Thank you both for your replies. I think I will start wearing tube socks -- I always wear long pants and high crew socks, but the band slips above the sock. Higher socks should help! The challenge band looks really good, I may try that. Does it get tight enough?

I thought so. I never attempted it with the green band that Cathe sent out with the Hardcores because I had fears of breaking it. So I really can't compare it precisely. But it's a good, sturdy band and has nice tension. I also have used it with Tracie Long's Core Cardio instead of the tubing they use.
