Detour bars

I thought I remember reading on another site that these are somewhat decent for you (if you have to grab a quick one on the go) & found it to be pretty good. Anyone had one of these?

They may be good for you, but after a while they taste awful! The first one I had tasted great, so I thought, Hey might as well buy a box and save money. I got a box at GNC, and ended up throwing most of them away.. something with an aftertaste or maybe they don;t last that long..

Hi Debbie,
I check up on vitamins and nutrition bars (http://www.consumerlab.com/aboutcl.asp) because they are not covered under our FDA guidelines (they are dietary supplements not drugs). They don't have to have exactly what they state on the label and are not held accountable (sad, but true). I've read that the Triple Layer Deluxe Whey Detour bars contained 33% more carbohydrates than its stated 25gms. Maybe that's why they are so yummy.

Oh Robin, Robin, Robin. Let me have my delusion that they are SOOO healthy for you ;) LOL.

Thanks for the info! I don't reach for bars too often at all unless in a pinch. Maybe I shoulda had a candy bar instead ;)

Come to think of it, I did think there was a slight aftertaste. I guess you can't make these things taste just like Hershey bars, eh. Thanks again!

LOL! I loved them too that's why I checked up on them in the first place... I thought they were way too good to be true. Heck, I didn't even taste any aftertaste....I really wish I did. Oh well....such is life.

My opinion is they are a better choice than a candy bar!

I have been using them for quite awhile with no adverse effects that I can tell. You could never call them "clean", however.....but they are my one indulgence when I am too hurried or really feel a need for a sweet. If I ate candy, I would crash in about 30 minutes and want to eat everything in sight...but if I have a U-Turn with a glass of water, I am good for a couple hours or more. Plus, I want a snack that is under 180 calories with 15 grams of protein.

I read, (I think on Bodybuilding.com), that Designer Whey resolved the problems with the bars. I think it applied to one flavor.

I have noticed that different batches tasted differently, and that the fresher they are, the better. Recently I bought the White Chocolate peanut butter ones but returned them to WalMart. They had hard thingies in them! Really hard, like uncooked rice kernals! Detour said it was probably "whey wafers" in an odd batch.. they were going to refund me if WalMart wouldn't.

Ok, I have rattled on long enough....just my opinion...
