Hi ladies...

LAst day of the year....Are we all ready for the new one? I am ready..Anyone have New Year's Resolutions? Mine as usual is to keep my goal of getting to my desired weight and keep healthy by exercise and eating right....

Today my workout will probably be MMA: Fusion. I am curious about that one. I haven't previewed it yet. So, I am just going to pop it in later and tackle it..I wonder if Cathe will post the January rotation today or tomorrow. I would love to take a look at it.

Be back later....

Last day of 2009! Wow!

to you all. It's been a good year working out with you guys and being friends!! Looking forward to 2010!!

Not sure when/if I'm working out today. Just heard a big explosion and the electricity flashed off, so I'm thinking we're goign to lose power any minute (I'm typing fast!). 2 power trucks just went by...

The plan is to do either MMA Boxing or Athletic Step again....

Better run before the power cuts out!

And yes, I'm working tonight. I'm not so sad about working , but moreso about how crappy it will be to work 1 night, off for 1 night, and then work 2 nights. I'll do ok, right???

BBL! (I hope!)

I'm with you, Kathy. Going to continue to work out in 2010 I'd LOVE to say I'd like to add meditation/yoga a few times a week. I'm going to try, though. Also, cleaning up my weekend eating. We're going to do away/limit our take-out Sundays. I'm going to buy sandwich fixings or make a pot of meatballs/sausage on Fridays to eat on Sundays. I think i will still allow myself to eat chocolate on Sundays , though. Maybe that will help get me through Saturdays better?!?!?

Would LOVE it if I could lose 8-10 lbs, yet again, this year. The same that keep hanging on and adding a few friends ...LOL!

Good morning and good-bye to 2009! Wow! Chris, yes, it's been a great friendship here -- you guys are a big part of my life -- I know that sounds funny, but workouts are a big part of my life and you guys are the only ones who are very involved with that piece of my life. And, getting to know you guys in non-fitness ways has been great!

Well, I've been a bad, bad girl. I abandoned the STS ship on my last meso 1 workout! I just had to try.... drumroll...... Circuit Blast! as my last workout of 2009. Wow, it was a cardio fest! Not a whole lot of toning, but my heart rate was up there the whole time! Did you see there's a cardio only premix? I may try that someday. Anyway, that was my 345th workout of the year!!! (that counts yoga days)

I'm not big on NY resolutions, but I've already decided to clean up my eating and am on my fourth day or so of that..... it is going well and I'm feeling great! Hopefully I can keep it going. Trying to start each dinner with a big salad, too.

Chris, thanks for the recipe last night.... it looks good -- funny, when I made it this year I was thinking that it wouldn't be that hard to make it a healthier dish, but it's nice to have the instructions done for me! I'll try it sometime.

Oh, and what's up with that power? Everything ok? Good luck with the yucky work schedule -- it looks pretty brutal, but you will get through it. Have you stocked up on Red Bull and/or zipfizz? ;)

I did not sleep all that well last night and I'm worried about falling asleep while driving today.

Have a good one, and happy new year! I may not be back for a while....

2009 and can't be done...I have so many experiments to do...

Actually, I do resolutions, and I'm surprisingly good at keeping them but the house buying has been a huge monkey wrench. I had dropped down to my worst HS weight and now I'm back up but I firmly believe that I could stop being sick and maintain a decent schedule, I could lose it again by RT. I need discipline all over the place...like figuring out today. I really want to beat this cough but I at least want to get one thing at work done but every time I go outside of the house my cough gets exacerbated! No raining at least. And I feel a little bad if its just my boss there alone sometimes. But beth --seriously -- he's a tenured prof but he's the youngest on the floor so he literally gets a closet for an office. There was another prof that prevented him from expanding his office into this storage place (where he was literally storing empty boxes). But it's probably he wants to separate his work and personal life...and it doesn't hurt to have one of us there to tell him how to fix things in grant.

I really want to work out today...I'm convinced this cough is just coughing because it's used to coughing now. I'm going to try and do a nasal rinse and see what happens. Athletic Step seems so much fun!

Do you think its easier or harder to eat right with children? I find that our eating goes out the window when I'm sick or slammed at work. Joe does cook but minimally and its easier to order out. If I'm at my full game, we tend to save a lot of $$$ by just cooking at home and it's just healthier for us too I guess. But I have some things I want to incorporate...like making sure I drink OJ no matter what every day. I don't want to have this crappy immune system again. I should incorporate more high antioxidant food. I'm pretty good about having my tea and having soy after this year. But mostly....I want to wake up when Beth does and even if it still means Joe and I don't go into work together it still gives me a jumpstart. I've been finding it easier to get housework done going late into lab by doing them in the morning than getting into lab early, coming home, and doing them in the evening. I'm too pooped by then. But yeah...for me, I guess figuring out my schedule and that really would be best served if I just woke up before 5a. I took an Ambien so early last night and I still didn't crawl out of bed until 7.

That's cool about the cardio only premix...I was sort of sad to see the lack of premixes in the latest series. Like I was previewing Athletic Step and didn't know why we couldn't put Step Moves on the same disc and have nice premixes.

Ok, I'm going to stop yapping and start eating breakfast!

Power remained on! YAY!!!

Beth!: Have a safe trip and a great New Year!!!! Good for you for doing Circuit Blast..if that's what you wanted. Cool you liked it, I'm looking forward to it , maybe next week!?! Did you find a dress to wear? Yes, I have one Red Bull left, need to buy more... more ... more...

So I did MMA: Boxing. Holy COW , I LOVED this workout!!! LOVED IT!!!! I dare to say it might be my favorite so far. And that's saying a lot, because Step is always my first love and I really liked Step Moves and Athletic Step! First of all , Boxing was easy to "get", no complicated moves. And I've always loved how punching can get your HR up there. The 3 combos were not high intensity, easy to moderate, but then she'd get into the upper and lower body blitzes! YES! I freakin love it! I got interupted with a phone call about 1/4 of the way into the abs, so I never finished abs, but did do the stretch. FAVORITE move, I could do forEVER, is the jump rope move: circle-circle-figure 8.

OMG, it's snowing like crazy right now!!! I talked to our sitter for tonight (Ally, who's 32 weeks pregnant). She's coming tonight, but has constant headaches and doesn't feel great. oh my.

It will all work out!!!!

Goodbye (and good riddance!!) to 2009 - welcome 2010!! I usually make the same resolutions each year, too. Be more patient with the kids and lose weight!! I did OK yesterday - except those dark-chocolate covered marshmallows mysteriously reappeared!! I only had two, though. Not so bad - I figured it's mostly marshmallow - not too much fat, right? And, no snacks after dinner last night or binging on chocolate. I already feel better - not so sluggish.

Beth - I may have already missed you, but have a safe and fun trip and be careful driving!! That's OK that you abandoned STS - you just about finished Meso 1. I loved Circuit Blast, too. Wow, 345 workout days is awesome. I want to try to track my workouts this year. Like which ones I do and what I thought about them. Sometimes I can't remember if I liked a workout or not.

I, too, have enjoyed getting closer to all of you and sharing our lives (fitness and everything else) with each other. You've all been here for me during some rough times - I hope to not have any more of those this year! But, thanks, everyone, for being such good friends and keeping me on track with my workouts.

Chris, yikes - hope you don't lose power! That work schedule does sound tough. Yes - you deserve chocolate on Sundays!! ;) I hope you do MMA Boxing, so I can hear how you like it! Oops - posting at the same time - glad to hear you loved MMA Boxing - I may try that tomorrow!

Kathy, ooh - I can't wait to hear what you think of MMA Fusion.

Hottie, so sorry you're still dealing with that cruddy cough. I was going to suggest the nasal rinse thing - I've never done it, but I think Chris has. People swear by it. Have you tried taking Mucinex? It's supposed to thin things out - it usually helps me. Mmmm - still thinking about your question of whether eating is harder with children. I think it depends how much time you have to prepare meals, or if you are time-crunched and don't make healthy stuff. Or, if you kids won't eat healthy stuff. It's hard for us when the kids are all going in different directions with sports, school, friends, etc. I wind up making three or four different meals since they aren't home at the same time. I'm so wiped out that I'll grab something unhealthy. But, with better planning (like Chris's idea of making stuff in the crockpot ahead of time) we wouldn't have that issue. Also, you might tend to have more unhealthy stuff in the house if you have kids. Although we really don't eat chips or cookies too much - when I buy them no one eats them.

I've tentatively decided to do a Jillian Michael's rotation I found. I'll start on Monday - I ordered five of her older DVDs which are in the rotation. I got them all for $25 - good deal! Today I did Banish Fat, Boost Metabolism. Unless Cathe's January rotation looks really good - then I'll do that.

Everyone have a wonderful New Year!! (although I'm sure I'll be back) ;)

HI ladies..

Just finished up with MMA: Fusion..
bliss.gif
I liked it. It wasn't to difficult to follow. But, I thought the cardio was more intense then the kickboxing. It was a great workout. Different kinds of moves and I loved the conditioning at the end.

Chris and Beth: I agree. I am so lucky to have you ladies to talk with everyday. Exercising is really important to me and you all are the ones that I talk with about that since nobody around here knows what I am talking about when I mention someting from a Cathe DVD..Great to have you all..

( I had to hug you again!!)

Joanne: I have the same goal of loosing weight and eating healthy too..Oh well! We will get it someday..Hope you enjoy your new workouts..I don't have any of her workouts.

Chris: I will have to try the boxing soon. Haven't even previewed it yet. I usually don't preview much. I just go ahead and tackle it..Hope you have a good night at work.

Hottie: Hope you loose that cough soon..Those lingering coughs are the worst! I don't know about everyone else. But, eating was harder when the kids came and they were toddlers. There was alot of snacky things around. Now that they are older, I try to make them eat a little healthier and don't buy as many treaty/junky things..

Beth: I had a big salad last night and plan to again tonight with some chicken. I am hoping to keep the good eating in place for a while. I know I will faulter sometimes. But, if I stick to good eating most of the time, I should be good..
