Merry Christmas ladies..

Just waiting for the kids to get up...Not sure if I will squeeze a workout in today. If I can get to the tv, I may try one of the Hiit workouts..

Have a great day! Anyone shopping tomorrow?

to all of you!!!

I'm so tired! We got home late from my brothers, I drank a LOT of wine! the boys went to bed near 11p, and us around midnight. Jake got up at 2:30, went and peaked downstairs to see if Santa had come. Came up in our bed and tossed and turned for 30 minutes before asking if he could open his stocking. *sigh*. I woke with a wine headache (cured with a few tylenol). I'm debating on a whether I can sneak in a Shock Cardio .......

It's just us and my mom for dinner. No pressure...

Oh! And I got a iPod touch, which I'm DYING to play with!!!!

Should I or shouldn't I? .. (work out)...

Have a wonderful day everyone! can't wait to hear how you're all doing!!! (and what Santa brought you!)

Good morning Kathy, and all. Merry Christmas! The festivities are done here -- by 6:ish, actually! I know what you mean about the workout, Kathy. Since the kids got an xbox, I don't expect to get near the tv, so it's a good day for cardio coach. I just may do ccpp. But, I was not feeling well in the night, so I'm going to see how it feels in a little bit. We've already had a big breakfast even, so I definitely would need to let that settle.

I did not sleep well, so I'm really hoping for a nap later, we'll see. We'll be going to the beach at some point, and I've got to roast a chicken, etc.

Have fun!

Hottie, how are you feeling, anyway? Better, I hope!

Hey, the xbox only came with one controller (I'm so lame and didn't realize it). Think I should get on amazon and get one sent here quickly, or go to a store tomorrow (yuck) and get it? If store, is gamestop going to be crazy expensive? Because at least it might be easy to get in and out of.

I think I may be getting what you have.... very queasy. Not sure I'll be running today.... maybe it's shock cardio disease.

HI all....

The kids are off playing with all their goodies. They got movies, books, clothes, Nintendo DS games, etc and we got them digital cameras. So, they are playing with their cameras right now...Vic and I don't go overboard with each other. We usually pick a big gift. We are thinking of exercise stuff. We couldn't decide. So, we are waiting. I did get some new Rykas..YEAH!! And of course those shock cardio DVDs came....

We have had our pancakes too. Now, relaxation...We went to church last night. So, now I gotta cook. But, it is just the 4 of us. We are having ham and fixings...

Oh and Beth...Lauren and I are hitting the sales tomorrow....I gave them gift cards to pick out stuff. Lauren is getting some new earrings and they both want whatever DS games they didn't get as gifts already....

Chris, I missed your post somehow. Good luck trying to get in that shock cardio -- if you do, let us know how it is. Sounds like you had a good time. Have fun with that ipod! I love mine, though I have to say the software gets worse and worse over time. Wish I had never upgraded!!

Which reminds me.... hottie, how is that zune better?

Kathy good luck with those sales tomorrow! We don't do much, either (in the way of adult exchanges). Larry did give me some dvds (tv shows, not exercise), and I wrapped up a couple of workout shirts for myself! ;) Our big present is a ski trip in February and we're going to build that new entertainment center finally.

hey guys -- merry xmas! I really can only stand looking at the computer for a bit of time but I hope after the next round of meds and a shower I can give you proper responses. I hope all of you are having fun! I called (groggily) to see how my family on the east coast were doing -- the girls seem to like their telescope (I swear though, we are turning them into bigger nerds than we were).

Oh, and I really like the Zune HD so far btw -- the screen is sometimes a little hard not to just look at and admire! But I'll give you a run down to why it may be better for me eventually. I think it may just come down to I'm more about music than apps though.

Ok, no more typing until meds!

Back from the beach -- it's a beautiful day! Our power went out earlier -- very odd, since there seemed to be no reason for it (no weather/wind). For a moment I thought maybe I hadn't paid the bill, but Larry told me they wouldn't be that mean (turning it off on xmas day). Who knows! Anyway, we went to the beach and it was absolutely gorgeous there -- 60 degrees, kids playing in the water, etc. Nice!

Hey Girls!

The last few hours of Christmas :( The boys are playing with all their new toys. Jake got DJ Hero, that thing is too funny! And Alex got Tony Hawk Ride , it comes with a skateboard to play the game on the Wii. It's totally cool!

My iTouch is downloading or something, Greg is setting it up for me.

I ate way too much, and still have some Lemon Lush dancing in my brain.

I did end up doing a Shock Cardio though! Crazy, huh? I did Step Moves this morning. It really was a fun workout, but it WILL take me a few times to get all the moves, I won't lie. Sometimes I got them, sometimes I didn't. It was fun for me though, and I'm looking forward to doing it again!!! SOON too, so I dn't forget (just like YOU said, Kathy!). And it wasn't her cueing at all, it was ME.

Sounds like you guys had a great Christmas so far, except YOU , Hottie! I'm so sorry you're sick AGAIN!!! You are a germ magnet!! Take care of yourself, you!!! Have fun with the Zune , (still not sure what that is, coming from a very technology challenged gal here!).

Off to try DJ hero and eat some lush! :p

AAAH...just lost a long post in the ether. I hate that.

Kathy -- yay on Rykas! I got the Ryka running shoes too to awaken the innter runner in me...yeah...we'll see how that goes...what games that you get your kids?

Beth -- oh the beach sounds nice! Hey to all you Xboxers -- my username is hottiescientist but we're usually logged in as joe and his is cyranojoe. If your kids have some of the same games that we have i'll be happy to STOMP THEIR BUTTS. :) Also, beth -- you can stream the netflix instant queue stuff to the Xbox if you have an Xbox Gold membership. I freaking love it. I watched two seasons of the Tudors when I had the stomach virus because of that feature. it rocks!

Chris -- you and I need to get drunk one day together. But be careful, I've been known to hit Joe when I'm tipsy (no one else, just joe). How cool that you did Step Moves. I've been watching that one today to learn the moves. I want to see if I feel better tomorrow that I can do it but I don't want to push it (and my priority should be to get back to work)...

But I'm really happy all of you are having a fun Xmas. I'm better but maybe like 65%. i can talk more like a human being. I'm really upset that I couldn't nip this in the bud because I thought if I stayed in bed and didn't actually work I would get better faster but noooo...just miserable. I feel bad because Joe and I didn't get to have fun but I wonder if he's happy because I was out of so much I couldn't "convince" him to do house projects with me. So he got to relax so maybe he got what he wanted.

I got a bunch of cool presents this year...the Zune HD is like an iPod touch, Chris. I had, for various reasons, wanted it over an iPod touch. (We needed to replace one of our devices as Joe's nano was dying/dead and he wanted to take mine and he had hijacked my 5G iPod Video a while back.) Main reasons I wanted a Zune -- most gorgeous screen I've ever seen on a PMP, Built in Radio and HD Radio, wireless syncing, and better battery life than comparable iPods. Part of me is afraid of my friends putting in $$$ for something that only has literally scratched the market so support is up in the air but so far, totally in love with it. Actually, Joe made a comment that he never thought Microsoft could ever make something this slick (and also noted how Microsoft did not put its logo ANYWHERE on it it).

But I also got other cool stuff -- I mentioned the ilike organic skin care...my gosh this stuff rocks. It's coming at a good time too....my skin has changed (my hormones have changed) so my old stuff wasn't really helping me out and the desert air was just drying me like crazy. But its awesome...I'm a bit of a wannabe spa diva so it was nice. I got the new Zelda DS game (did any of you guys get that for your kids? It looks AWESOMELY adorable.) I got other stuff from my friends like the terminator dvd and the slanted risers as well. I totaly feel spoiled.

And here's a secret I shouldn't share -- when Joe and I exchange presents we have this added on game as well. We try to guess how much we got it on sale. It's sort of cute because we don't really buy anything for full price and it's like a competitive game. Joe's getting better but he's nowhere near me yet :).

Oh! And the weirdest/funniest thing happened just now. (WARNING THIS IS LONG)

So, we went to the Langham for my bday dinner -- this is where the most recent Top Chef runs his kitchen (it's in the Ritz Carlton in Pasadena). So, I went there despite being sick (and it probably made me sicker) and wowee, that was some crazy gourmet food. Not at the level of the French Laundry last year (my SF friends took me there), but wow. I feel like I can't even appreciate the food on the level that some of the dishes are prepared because my pallet isn't cultivated enough. Anyway, the staff knew I was sick and tried to help me out with tea and warm towels. We went for the 7 course for each of us meal where the Chef chooses it for us (but it was more like 10 if you include pre-appetizer, pre-dessert, and post-dessert). And, oof did it cost us -- I think we were $325 with tip. (again, not french laundry numbers but still!)

It was dampened by me being sick but what was really weird was this one couple walks in at one point in the table next to ours with their kid. I don't think anything of it all first except that they were the only people not dressed up (they were in graphic tees and jeans). But then the kid starts to wail...through the night. Like Joe and I couldn't hear what the other was saying. and if I was even 50% of what I usually am, I would have just asked one of the servers to move us but I was too sick and Joe is afraid of confrontation. I mean, i wouldn't want them to leave or move, I would have been totally happy camping my behind in a crappy table where I could talk to Joe so they could be more comfortable because I know its hard to have nice dinners when you have kids. And frankly, I'm usually the one who has to get other people to be kinder to families at restaurants but man, the kid just wasn't stopping, the parents weren't even caring because they got to eat what they wanted to eat, and you know what really got me -- they never bothered to ask us if it was ok or even apologize. But we endured it because I was going to freaking MEET the chef...but then the chef got so busy he didn't have time for us at the end of the night. That sort of set Joe off though (the whole $300+ meal with a screaming kid and no meeting of the chef=does not compute).

ANYWAY, Joe calls them right now (2 days later)...and they're going to COMP us another meal and try to arrange it so that Chef voltaggio will actually meet us this time.

Joe is giggling like crazy. I also had to tell him that he's not allowed to go around to fancy restaurants in Pasadena and complain about meals so he can get them comped. ;) But seriously, gift that keeps on giving, eh? But..man...I wore that Vera Wang dress to my bday dinner...I can't wear it again! What am I going to wear! (I know, graphic t and jeans...)

Ok, I don't know if any of ya'll will read this but there it is. Hopefully, a healthier me will be around tomorrow.

Hey Girls!!

The day after Christmas... kind of a let down, but I'm kind of relieved too. The only thing is we're doing round #2 on Tuesday, my sister and her son are coming to do an overnight (they couldn't come at Christmas). And my mom will stay over too, so it will be FUN, but a bunch more work. And greg will be back to work then, too.

I ate like a crazed person yesterday, I guess , and the scale needle is in the 'red' zone. ;) As much as I'd just love to be a bum today (I have to work tonight, but off Sunday night, because I'm working NY's Eve.), I NEED to do some sort of cardio to get rid of the goo that has attached to my ass

Hottie: Thanks for explaining the ZUNE. Sounds VERY cool! Cooler than the iTouch!! And you're a techie, so you can figure newer stuff out. I have to depend on calling Zach's BFF to get instructions on how to use the iTouch. LOL!... My boys are on XBOX all the time! Mostly Zach likes to play Call Of Duty. And he got Boarderlands. Jake has DJ Hero, Skate 2, Indiana Jones, The Beatles Rock Band, Rock Band 2 (Alex is yelling them out to me, and I'm typing them!). .....

OMG, we would have a bunch of fun drinking together! I think I'd be amused to see you hit Joe (LOL!). The dinner sounds nice, in spite of the sickies and the screaming kid. The FOOD sounds wonderful, is what I mean. What a great Bday Dinner. Hey, Joe grew some and was confrontational over the phone! You must be proud of that too!! AND a free dinner!!

So, I'm thinking one of the HiiTs, but do I have it in me? *sigh*. I really want to veg for NO good reason.....

Oh and YES! I actually slept through the night, no potty runs, and did NOT wake with a headache this morning. I guess that throws my theory out the window, and the sleep felt soooo good after Christmas Eve chaos!

You know, its weird to me how illness seem to backtrack in time. I now feel like I did on Tuesday where I had a cough and congestion and some pressure. Like I can work around it but I'm not sure if I can work out with it. But we'll see. My voice is mostly back but I do have a nasty sounding cough.

so, Chris do they have the Lego Indie? That's the one I have (and have not played)...i wonder how DJ hero is going to be. There was a scathing article about how it won't enjoy the same success as guitar hero because of the nature of its advertising blah blah. I just finished Tales of Vesperia (awesome, awesome game), Prince of Persia, and the first Assasin's Creed (we just started the second) -- though I imagine the the last one is a bit too bloody for your kids. I totally in the red zone as well Chris...no exercise but eating. I wouldn't say the zune hd is cooler because apple has millions of apps but i/m pretty pleased with it. and yeah, i thought joe really stood up but then he told me that the management offered once they realized what had happened. good service! and a yummy meal to come!

Ohh..I'm going to stay in bed a little longer. Beth -- what did you do about those controllers?

Holy cr*p, Just finished Cardio Core Circuit! I really wasn't feeling it, and I think it was even harder for me today. Most hard was trying to do those core exercises when I was huffing and puffing and TIRED from the cardio!

It reminded me alot of Jillians circuit workout (forget the name). 2 rounds of 3 cardio drills, and then the core exercise. the music was good. I enjoyed a few of the different cardio drills (2 hops around the mat) and others were like "Yeah, right" (double jump OVER the mat 3 times, I don't think I made it ONCE over cleanly! LOL!).

Music was good, one point it motivated me to get into it.

Mostly I think I was just wiped out from the last week, and wasn't at my best, but it was a good kick butt workout!!

Beth!!: Got the Christmas card today! It's beautiful!! your kids AND you look like so much fun (where's Larry??). Kathy, I also enjoyed getting your card last week!

I am still so not motivated! Thought a little shock cardio would give me a boost, Nope, not happening today!

Hey Hottie (posted at the same time!)...

Sorry you're feeling bad again! I know you never know whether to push it or not, I always have that internal argument with myself when I'm not feeling great. I know if it's ME giving advice to OTHERS, I say. when in doubt, rest your body. It's just hard for me to follow my own advice...

Yes! It's Indiana Jones Lego. Jake plays it! The DJ Hero is pretty cool The music is fun fun fun! And I even want to play it!!!

Oh man! I like the chatty posts! I'm so busy -- we decided to have our friends over for brunch -- her family is visiting from England and they want the 70ish (80?) year old mom to take a ride on our "fun swing" and see the view, so we invited them over. Lots of xmas mess to clean up and things to get ready.

I loved the birthday dinner story, Hottie -- I cannot -- cannot! -- believe you are getting a comped meal -- amazing!!! You guys sure score the deals.

DJ Hero? Is that a video game, I take it? Man, if Travis knew there was a tony hawk thing for the wii I think we'd have that rather than the xbox. Haven't yet set up the internet portion, Hottie, but once we do I'll let you know. We have a roku and netflix, so I'm not sure we'll need the ability on the xbox, though I think we have 12 months of that service (unless that's premium or something?).

I wondered if you had to work this weekend, Chris. Oh, the card -- Larry is there in the upper left -- it didn't look that small on the screen! I have to remember that -- I always screw up. Anyway, he and Travis are fishing. We seem to never have a picture with all four of us in it, so I usually do some grouping and it's always small.

Still no shock cardio, as you know.... so I did ccpp this morning -- much abbreviated! I only did the first two (out of five!) challenges, but it was 41 minutes as opposed to about an hour. It was enough for today -- too much to do!

Hopefully this afternoon I'll have more time to read and reply.....

Hi everyone....

Just a quick checkin...Glad to read about everyone's day..Hottie, hope you a feeling better soon. I also ate too much yesterday...So, I tackled one of the Hiit workouts. I did the 40/20 workout. It was tough for only being 30 minutes. I liked it and was huffing and puffing...Looking forward to trying another tomorrow..I ended up resting yesterday since I couldn't get on the tv..

It's still the weekend, right? Boy is it hard to keep track of days! I never got the mail yesterday (I realized as I was headed to bed) because I thought it was a holiday.

We had a great time yesterday -- our Brit friends have a great sense of humor and it was just fun. We got the 84 year old grandma on the happy swing. It was amazing, because our friend Andy, the SIL of the grandma, said to me "I'll be very impressed if Larry gets her on that swing because I couldn't get her on the escalator at Macy's last week!" Larry told me last night that she had tears in her eyes when she got off of it. That was the best part of his day (we always do "best part of your day at dinner or bedtime). Anyway, fun fun.

But boo-hoo-hoo! When I went to bed last night my shoulder started hurting again!!! I guess it must have been very delayed doms from the 24th? That was my back and tricep day. I don't know what else it would have been because the 25th I did nothing, and yesterday I ran. So, this morning I did some step and some barre seat work. In another moment of self-pity earlier this year I pre-ordered Tracy Long's new stuff, so it was her new step that I did. I really liked it!!! It wasn't hugely intense, but it was better than steady state and it was pretty easy to follow. There was some production problem with the copies and the audio is off at one point and I knew about it, but forgot, so that was a little strange. Very bizarre -- it went for a few minutes completely off, so I just had to watch, and then suddenly it was back in sync again. I think partly I liked it because she's different than Cathe so it felt fresh. I don't do anyone else's step but Cathe except for that new KCM athletic step, which is also easy to follow. I need easy!!! :)

We are planning for our new "rooms". We've decided we need to get the exercise stuff out of the "carpet room" and just make it a cozy movie/music room, and because it'll take too long to make an exercise space in the barn, we're going to temporarily set me up in the living room which goes unused except for piano practicing. So, today we are going to try to buy a rug for that room (do you guys work out on floor/carpet/what?). It's closer to the bedrooms so I'm hoping I don't wake up anyone, but if I'm on a rug it'll be a lot quieter obviously. We may look for a new couch, too. We found one at pottery barn but decided it was just too deep even for Larry. I have a theory that they make couches so deep these days so they can sell more pillows -- did I already tell you guys that?

I'm going on and on..... I'll go see if someone posted in the meantime. I hope everyone has a nice day! Chris, you have tonight off, is that right? Nice.

Herrow!!

I am feeling a ton better...just a tinge of congestion and cough left but I'm really going to try and work out today. I really need it...I'm thinking about Step Moves. I should go into lab later and Joe is talking about going out to dinner (we have daily grill coupons and it's his favvvv place to go out to eat).

Well, just went over the past year's expenses. Given the house expenses, the dog, and the loss of Joe's OT, we did pretty OK. This is all in context of my parents having lended/gave me $$$ when we bought the house, but still, I think we can handle the New Year. Everyone keeps on telling me that it gets better after the first year's tax refund but I keep on going, whatever the Fed gives me, the state takes away! CA is so broke...

Well, I hope everyone is having a good weekend. moving around rooms is fun Beth! I remember when we sold our dining table so we could make more room for me to work out in the apartment since few people used to come over by then -- priorities! my current gym room (maybe i'll remember to put pics up today) is just hardwood...it's great for cardio not so great for floor work but I get mats out. Though I have been thinking...we have this Evee rug that a friend leaving the country "donated" to us which I think if I ever used a rug in my gym room would work. I saw it at Ikea for $29 too and it's like...what 5x8? enough for Evee to go crazy on. I think its perfect for working out, Beth, because it's thick enough to absorb shock but flat enough to to impede movement if that made any sense. But I don't think I could take that rug out of the room without replacing something for Evee or she's just go on a protest...

Ok, off to clean up a little more and then hopefully -- work out for the first time in a week!

Hey Everyone!

Work was pretty easy last night. Had mostly medical patients. One man had cellulitis of his scrotum  That thing was as big as a cantaloupe and had a slit in it where his penis SHOULD have been. God, it makes me cringe just thinking about the poor guy. He couldn't even sit down, he scooted on the edge of the recliner all night and had it hanging over  Oh and the oder....(hope that wasn't TMI!).

And now I'm off tonight!! Which is very very nice!! I'm not even wiped out/tired and i only slept 4 hours. The only drawback is working Thursday night (NY's Eve), off Friday, and then working the full weekend. THAT is going to kick my butt!

I almost feel like doing a workout today. I'm not sure what the week is going to bring for workouts with my weird schedule and the boys off from school. It's going to be tough. But either way , even if I bring one workout into next week, I WILL finish STS MESO 3! Can't wait to see what Cathe has for a new rotation. I really hope it's with Shock Cardio.

Kathy: Was the 40/20 HiiT tougher than Cardio Core Circuit? I was reading a review of it on the Shock Cardio forum, and it was my sentiments exactly. There were moves I just could NOT do because I was so wiped from the cardio. I'm a little leary of the HiiT's if they're harder than CCC!?!?

Beth: Nice you got to spend time with friends AND have some good laughs. I have to ask, do you stress about cleaning your house? As I said, my sister and her son and my mom are coming for a sleepover on Tuesday. I don't want to go nutso (like I usually do) on cleaning. It will kill me all over again for a busy week... That will be fun to change up rooms for your workout room. My workout room is in the basement, the finished half. But there is a concrete floor , covered by carpeting. Sometimes I think the concrete base is tough on my knees/hips if I do too much High Impact stuff. But there's not much of a choice where I can be right now. So I take it!... How weird your shoulder started hurting? Do you still do your exercises/stretches?. Could it be the way you slept? Hope it subsides all by itself. Could it be "just" DOMS?

Hottie: YAY! For feeling better! Finally, huh?? Step Moves has some tricky stuff, but it will make you want to do it again. Esp. you, I know how you like to "conquer" workouts like that! .... I like reading how you didn't do so bad financially. Since our financial "issues" come up in a few weeks (the loss of my weekend bonus). I'm a bit nervous. But, we'll make it, right?... So let us know how you like STep Moves!!

Tomorrow Greg, Zach and I are going to a training class for a new device for Zach's diabetes. Did I tell you already? It's a "Continuous Glucose Monitor" and it attaches to him, and reads his blood sugars continuously. Will mean less finger pokes (and less wakings during the night, I hope!!!) We're going to drop Al and Jake off at my mom's, and then head there for 11a. I will hopefully fit my workout in in the afternoon after we get back. Greg has to start back to work tomorrow night after 11 off. I feel bad, it sucks to have to go back after a nice stretch off... :(
