AAAH...just lost a long post in the ether. I hate that.
Kathy -- yay on Rykas! I got the Ryka running shoes too to awaken the innter runner in me...yeah...we'll see how that goes...what games that you get your kids?
Beth -- oh the beach sounds nice! Hey to all you Xboxers -- my username is hottiescientist but we're usually logged in as joe and his is cyranojoe. If your kids have some of the same games that we have i'll be happy to STOMP THEIR BUTTS.

Also, beth -- you can stream the netflix instant queue stuff to the Xbox if you have an Xbox Gold membership. I freaking love it. I watched two seasons of the Tudors when I had the stomach virus because of that feature. it rocks!
Chris -- you and I need to get drunk one day together. But be careful, I've been known to hit Joe when I'm tipsy (no one else, just joe). How cool that you did Step Moves. I've been watching that one today to learn the moves. I want to see if I feel better tomorrow that I can do it but I don't want to push it (and my priority should be to get back to work)...
But I'm really happy all of you are having a fun Xmas. I'm better but maybe like 65%. i can talk more like a human being. I'm really upset that I couldn't nip this in the bud because I thought if I stayed in bed and didn't actually work I would get better faster but noooo...just miserable. I feel bad because Joe and I didn't get to have fun but I wonder if he's happy because I was out of so much I couldn't "convince" him to do house projects with me. So he got to relax so maybe he got what he wanted.
I got a bunch of cool presents this year...the Zune HD is like an iPod touch, Chris. I had, for various reasons, wanted it over an iPod touch. (We needed to replace one of our devices as Joe's nano was dying/dead and he wanted to take mine and he had hijacked my 5G iPod Video a while back.) Main reasons I wanted a Zune -- most gorgeous screen I've ever seen on a PMP, Built in Radio and HD Radio, wireless syncing, and better battery life than comparable iPods. Part of me is afraid of my friends putting in $$$ for something that only has literally scratched the market so support is up in the air but so far, totally in love with it. Actually, Joe made a comment that he never thought Microsoft could ever make something this slick (and also noted how Microsoft did not put its logo ANYWHERE on it it).
But I also got other cool stuff -- I mentioned the ilike organic skin care...my gosh this stuff rocks. It's coming at a good time too....my skin has changed (my hormones have changed) so my old stuff wasn't really helping me out and the desert air was just drying me like crazy. But its awesome...I'm a bit of a wannabe spa diva so it was nice. I got the new Zelda DS game (did any of you guys get that for your kids? It looks AWESOMELY adorable.) I got other stuff from my friends like the terminator dvd and the slanted risers as well. I totaly feel spoiled.
And here's a secret I shouldn't share -- when Joe and I exchange presents we have this added on game as well. We try to guess how much we got it on sale. It's sort of cute because we don't really buy anything for full price and it's like a competitive game. Joe's getting better but he's nowhere near me yet

.
Oh! And the weirdest/funniest thing happened just now. (WARNING THIS IS LONG)
So, we went to the Langham for my bday dinner -- this is where the most recent Top Chef runs his kitchen (it's in the Ritz Carlton in Pasadena). So, I went there despite being sick (and it probably made me sicker) and wowee, that was some crazy gourmet food. Not at the level of the French Laundry last year (my SF friends took me there), but wow. I feel like I can't even appreciate the food on the level that some of the dishes are prepared because my pallet isn't cultivated enough. Anyway, the staff knew I was sick and tried to help me out with tea and warm towels. We went for the 7 course for each of us meal where the Chef chooses it for us (but it was more like 10 if you include pre-appetizer, pre-dessert, and post-dessert). And, oof did it cost us -- I think we were $325 with tip. (again, not french laundry numbers but still!)
It was dampened by me being sick but what was really weird was this one couple walks in at one point in the table next to ours with their kid. I don't think anything of it all first except that they were the only people not dressed up (they were in graphic tees and jeans). But then the kid starts to wail...through the night. Like Joe and I couldn't hear what the other was saying. and if I was even 50% of what I usually am, I would have just asked one of the servers to move us but I was too sick and Joe is afraid of confrontation. I mean, i wouldn't want them to leave or move, I would have been totally happy camping my behind in a crappy table where I could talk to Joe so they could be more comfortable because I know its hard to have nice dinners when you have kids. And frankly, I'm usually the one who has to get other people to be kinder to families at restaurants but man, the kid just wasn't stopping, the parents weren't even caring because they got to eat what they wanted to eat, and you know what really got me -- they never bothered to ask us if it was ok or even apologize. But we endured it because I was going to freaking MEET the chef...but then the chef got so busy he didn't have time for us at the end of the night. That sort of set Joe off though (the whole $300+ meal with a screaming kid and no meeting of the chef=does not compute).
ANYWAY, Joe calls them right now (2 days later)...and they're going to COMP us another meal and try to arrange it so that Chef voltaggio will actually meet us this time.
Joe is giggling like crazy. I also had to tell him that he's not allowed to go around to fancy restaurants in Pasadena and complain about meals so he can get them comped.

But seriously, gift that keeps on giving, eh? But..man...I wore that Vera Wang dress to my bday dinner...I can't wear it again! What am I going to wear! (I know, graphic t and jeans...)
Ok, I don't know if any of ya'll will read this but there it is. Hopefully, a healthier me will be around tomorrow.
