Hi Debbie,
Here is the dry skin body brushing info:
Dry Skin body brushing benefits are:
1. When done twice a day, can eliminate 1lb of waste (toxins) from the body in a month.
2. It softens and tones the skin
3. Stimulates the skin - so good for cellulite, sluggish areas
4. Exfoliates the bobbly skin found on thighs, and backs of upper arms. This bobbling is the result of dry skin, and the fine hair follicles become blocked with dry skin. Also, winter clothing can excasberate this problem (excuse my spelling !)
Dry Skin Brushing needs to be done on a DRY skin, twice a day before a shower (Morning and night), using a SOFT, non abrasive bristled body brush (usually wooden with a detatchable handle -shop around for softness, the brush bristles should not hurt even if pressed into the skin. Natural bristles work better, avoid nylon bristles),
1. Start at the feet, and using light, sweeping movements with the brush (always in an upward direction towards the heart), work your way up towards the thighs (don't forget round the back of your thighs/lower legs), over the hips and butt, and tummy area.
2. Then begin at the wrists, and work your way up your arms, towards the shoulder area.
3. Then shower, and afterwards apply a firming, moisturising body cream/lotion, or a specific Professional Beauty product designed for firming and/or cellulite to the specific brushed areas.
Sometimes the skin may take on a red blush but this is just the skin being stimulated.
Be careful over varicose veins, and raised moles, and check with a Health Official if you are pregnant.
Debbie, if you want to boost exfoliating effects on dry skin, then I would recommend using a specific Body Exfoliation Cream, or a natural Salt scrub (like the ones Origins do) once a week on top of the dry skin body brushing.
Hope this has been of some help !!!!!!!
Anna
