Good Morning Everyone!

I can't believe today is the last day of Feb.!!!! I also can't believe it snowed at least 6 inches on Sunday, and now the snow is almost all gone! I love when that happens- enjoy the snow, it looks pretty, and before its grey and ugly, its gone!

Today was 45 min. run and B&G stability ball abs. Since I can't run (kids), I did a mish mosh- Circuit Max warm up and hi/lo segments (without weights) and first kickbox segment, then over to CTX 10-10-10 and did the kickbox and hi/lo. It was fun and I think equal to a steady run, as far as heart rate and all. And then B&G stab. ball abs- which I love! But I always think after the V sits with the ball the segment is over, I don't know why, and I'm always surprised theres more!:)

Gin- I do have an elliptical at home. I looked at it this morning, but I have a love/hate relationship with it, and today was a hate day I guess}( Did you do the elliptical?

Tracee- hope all is well with you....

Marcy- what did you end up doing today. I also like PUB abs, but I have to do them at the begining of the workout, at the end, my arms are shaking to much. PS- I got the SASE yesterday and will be mailing it out today!!!:) :)

Jennifer- Hope you have a good workout today. You said you work out in the evening. I think thats harder than in the morning. For me it takes twice as much "mental" power to workout at night, after I've ran around all day!

Variety Show countdown: 2 days! Dress rehersal tommorrow!!!

Good Morning, Ladies ~ How is everyone?

Februrary's Rotation calls for a run tonight, but since I don't run (to hard on my knees), I am going to do some form of HIIT training. I will probably pull out IMAX 3 and do all the blasts -or- I will do Step Blast premix, the Blast (2) times. Last time I did Imax 3, blasts only, I was soaked, so maybe that is the one I will go with!
I really, really want to try and work out in the morning again, but my body doesn't want to get out of bed ... I have no motivation at all.
What are your secrets, how are you able to get out of bed? I would have to get up by 4:30 a.m. b/c I have to be out of the house by 7.

Today, is starting out w/ a clean eating day.
I had;

Cottage Cheese & Yogurt 6:00a.m.
Kashi, Go Lean Crunch w/ skim milk 8:15 a.m.

It is taking all my willpower to stay away from the junk, but I just tell myself how much better I will feel if I just stay away from it!

Good morning ladies!

This morning I did Kelly Coffey-Meyers' A New You Coming. I was pleasantly surprised by this workout. This is a fast paced low-weight high rep strength workout. She does non-weighted leg exercises which I've been liking much better lately. Some of the exercises were really unique.

Back - Rows with 15# dbbl, back raises, 1 count back, 3 forward (8#)
She did one more exercise which I can't remember.
Legs - Lunges to back, then side with knee up (like in Cathe's Low Max)
Repeat back and leg sequence (used 16# for rows this time)
Biceps - 8# - hammer curls, side and front, lower bicep curls with crosses to front, upper bicep curls with down punches (slow then fast). These got tough.
Legs - Curtsy lunges side to side, add in a side knee lift (oblique work) in between 2 lunges to each side; side steps with back lunges
Repeat bicep and leg segment with less reps.
Shoulders - 5# - Circling lateral lifts, upright rows with shoulder shrugs, butterflies (weights in front with elbows straight out and lifting alternating with military presses.
Legs - No weights - standing side lifts to side, at an angle and straight back and then knee up to back lunge. Repeat shoulders and legs.
Triceps - 5# - overhead extensions and then with dumbbells behind head, rotate elbows in and out (never did this one before). Dips off step with hands on dumbbells (these got really tough for me but I usually don't have any problem with dips). Legs - straddle step with left leg facing TV and right leg horizontal and do plie squats with dbbls, repeat triceps and do plie squats with other leg. Then do squats first with body weight on toes, then heels.
Chest - 10# - Pullovers, wide grip bench presses, flyes, close grip presses. She does a lot of pulsing (like with bench press, she pulses for 3 counts and then does 2 singles).
Dbbls resting on hips, do hip lifts.
Abs - Gripping step, she raises and lowers legs, more ab work with leg raises, crunches.
Repeat chest work, repeat pelvic lifts.
Abs on mat: Crunches with elbows in and then out, roll ups and downs, tucks then with rotations, oblique twists at 45 degree angle.
Legs: Outer thigh lefts with bent legs, then knee touches floor and kick out, then bring knee in, straighten, rotate in a circle and bring kneee in (Deanie: I think Kari does these in Reach).
Lying flat on floor: tighten lower abs and release.
Short stretch.

I really enjoyed this workout. It moved very quickly and I really liked the exercises. I think I liked this better than Jari's Slim & Lean. Kelly doesn't allow much rest between exercises.

Burned 297 calories.

For breakfast, I had Kashi Heart to Heart with regular milk (I don't think I'll ever be able to drink skim or low fat milk) and a banana.
Snack: Fiber One bar.

Deanie - Thanks for mailing out the tapes. Sounds like you did a nice mish-mosh today.

Jennifer - I can see why you have a problem getting up that early. I don't start work until 9:30. I usually get up between 5:30 and 5:45 and start working out by 6:00. I've never done IMAX 3 blasts only. That sounds really tough. I only have IMAX 3 on Hardcore Extreme. I'm still trying to get my hands on IMAX 3 from ebay. I love IMAX 3. It's my favorite IMAX.

Tracee - We missed you yesterday. Hope you're able to workout today and join us.

Gin - Hope you had a good workout. How is your leg doing?

Good Morning Ladies!

I did B&G abs (but I did the one with the ankle weights), yoga class and rode stationary bike 30 min. I think I will walk a couple of miles outside today. We have such nice weather.

Deanie--Best of luck with the fun Variety Show! No elliptical for me either. Yesterday in the middle of HSC my heart started racing and I had to stop for a couple of minutes. I called the doctor and he wants me to come in Friday for an EKG and not raise my HR with strenuous exercise until I see him. I 'm sure it is nothing. I have had one road block after another.:-(

Jennifer--I am also trying to stay away from junk. For me, that means chocolate and nuts!!:9 I have been sucessful since Sunday.

Marcy--Glad you enjoyed your new workout. You have so many to choose from.:7

Tracee- Hope you are alright. We miss you!

Hi again all!

Gin- I'm sorry about your heart racing, and I hope its nothing! Hopefully on Fri. you will get a clean bill of health and be ready for the rotation on Mon:)

Jennifer- The motivation I give myself to workout in the morning, is the knowledge: if I don't do it now I'll never do it!!! Plus, 90% of the time, once I'm up, I'm up, so if I didn't work out, and just layed in bed not sleeping, that would make me really mad at myself!

Marcy- I love how you have so many different workouts and enjoy them all. Once I found Cathe, its hard for me to enjoy someone elses workouts. I'm going to do PLB tomorrow, and I actually am going to use the same weights as Cathe. My calves (weirdly enough) are getting big, and I think I want to do less heavy weights for my legs.- I think between the leg work with weights, even if they aren't as heavy, kickbox, and step my legs should be okay. I will still go as heavy as I can on upper body.

Jennifer - It was a little rough in the beginning but now my body is conditioned to wake up and I usually do so before my alarm goes off. Once you get your body into a routine, it becomes much easier. Also, make sure you're getting enough sleep.

Deanie - Sounds like you're getting just like me with leg workouts. I really like non-weighted floor work and I think it can be just as effective as weighted work. Things I will probably be changing next month:

Gym Style Legs and Slow & Heavy Legs - will probably only do floorwork and maybe leg conditioning drills from Kick Max or stability ball work from PLB or I might sub in Reach.

Marcy- we'll have to compare ideas before those workouts:) I was also going to sub for S&H legs-maybe leaner legs (same time frame).

That sounds like a great workout, Marcy. I might have to pick up this one. How is her step kick-boxing one? That's her isn't it?? :)
I too have a hard time liking other instructors besides Cathe. I seem to be disappointed everytime, I purchase it and then I never use it, sort of like all my Jari Love's. While I do love her workouts also, they are def. not Cathe though. I just purchased Amy Bento's HLX..it's okay, but her cuing is just not their. Does anyone else like Amy Bento?

I don't know about her step boxing one but I want to get it. I hear it's very fast. I love Jari's Ripped to the Core but I'm still on the fence about Slim & Lean. I also wanted to get Amy's Hi/Lo Extreme and Advanced Step Challenge. I plan on ordering Tracey Staehle's Sweatfest Series. Have you seen any of the clips at fitbytracey.com?

Lunch for me was caesar salad and some kind of tortellini/chicken/vegetable salad and some strawberries.

I promised my DS I would make chicken tetrazzine tonight so tonight I'm not being so good.

Hi everyone! Sorry I have been missing for a few days. I missed another day of working out yesterday and so I didn't even check the boards because of the guilt. I had an alarm clock malfunction on Tuesday so I didn't wake up in time. Finally, this morning I made it up in time and everything was working well. I planned on doing SJP but my darned dvd player is acting up again so I had to throw in a video, Cardio & Weights.

I have to make this short because I have to take my son to the doctor, he stayed home today sick.

Thanks for all the well wishes and for thinking of me when I wasn't here.

Welcome, Jennifer. It's nice to have another member to our group.

I'll try to be more chatty later tonight or tomorrow.

Thank you all for the kind words about my heart palpitations. It could be a sign of menopause?? The thing is HSC isn't all that cardio! Hopefully I'll find out Friday.
I plan on B&G floorwork and KM leg conditioning drills tomorrow in place of PLB until my leg heals. It doesn't hurt, but I'm waiting until next week to do any intense lower body or impact cardio.
I realized that I called nuts junk food. They are good for you, I was just eating too many!:p

Deanie--Do you normally lift heavier weights thatn Cathe on PLB?? Yikes! You are strong!:7

Jennifer--Your diet sounds good. WTG!! I have never tried Amy Bento. Besides the yoga dvds I own, I only have Cathe, old Firm, and just purchased 3 of Jari Love's, because they were such a good deal. Would you be able to get up and exercise early if you went to bed early? 4:30am is quite early to get up to exercise, though.

Marcy--What do you do with the dvds that you don't use anymore? Have you ever traded on video fitness? I have wondered about that.

Tracee - Glad to hear you got to workout. Hope your DS is okay.

Gin - I don't have that many that I don't use (I just can't get to all of them that often; Cathe, of course, is used the most.) Yes, I have traded on VF a few times. That's how I got Ripped to the Core. I also traded Patrick Goudeau's B.E.S.T for his Dance Moves DVD and one another trade. I've also gotten Latin Rhythm Workout by Kathy Smith and Cathe's All Step by SASE. I love VF. I go there as much as I come here.

Hi again-

Gin- Sorry to hear about your heart palpitations. Do you get them alot? I been getting them for the past year, went to the doctor and he told me I had Mitral Valve Prolapse. Nothing major and nothing I need to take medication for thus yet. Have you seen your doctor?

I would like to try and get up in the morning. I always try to get to bed early, but it is always something needing to get done, between the kids and house cleaning. I am usually in bed by 10 at the latest.
It is really, really hard staying on track with my eating. Only (1) mess up this week...if I can get this week over with it will get easier for me.

Going home tonight and putting in Step Blast, probably just do the Workout Blender, Blast (2) times.

Tracee--Glad to hear from you. Hope your feels better. Sorry about your dvd player. Is it broken? That would be frustrating.

Jennifer--I have had the heart palpitations one other time while exercising about a year ago. I called the dr. this time and have an appt. Friday.
The first week of clean eating is definitely harder and I think it will get easier. Marilu Henner would say you will lose your sugar craving after 3-4 days of giving it up. The physical craving anyway.;-) Hang in there!

Gin - Sorry to read about your heart palpitations. I hope everything turns out normal. I feel the same way you are feeling about something always blocking you from doing your workouts.

My son has strep throat AGAIN! :eek: This is his third round of it. I don't think he's been healthy at all in 2007. We're going to get the whole family tested to see if one of us is a carrier without the symptoms. He's either getting it from one of us or someone at school or the medicine just hasn't been killing it completely. I can't wait until winter is over!!

Great job on the healthy eating guys! I'm just not ready to commit to that lifestyle yet. Maybe after I reach 40 I'll realize that I need to feed my body better food and do it.

I'm not sure if my dvd player is broken or just needs cleaning but it's one of those things that I hate dealing with. I don't have the money to spend on a new one but that is probably what I'll end up doing. I'm the only one who uses it on a regular basis so it will be up to me to take care of the problem. I'm just a procrastinator when it comes to things like that.

Well, you're probably all off the computer for tonight so I'll check back in tomorrow.

Hi Ladies,

Well, it was a "clean eating," day :) Had Chicken, veggies, & a salad for dinner. I am really starting to feel better, the cravings are going away slowly. I stopped tonight to pick up my daughter some ice cream, I didn't even have the temptation to have any.

Tracee-Wow your son had strep throat (3) times this year alone? How old is your son? When my daughter was 6 she always had strep, I would say she got sick a good 3-5 times a year. Finally my doctor suggested I take her to a Ear, Nose, & Throat doctor. They did some testing and decided to have her tonsils & Adnoids removed. Maybe you might want to mention this to your doctor and see what they have to say. It's the best thing, she hasn't been sick since...(well, except the nasty flu this year...:0 ).

Tonight I did Step Blast (Blast only 2 times), & Tae-Bo Get Ripped, 30 mins. Felt really good afterwards, don't know where the energy came from.
