Good morning!
This morning I did Core Synergistics from P90X for the first time. This is one intense and tough workout and different than any other I have ever done. All of the exercises were pretty new to me so it was quite a change. Lots of different pushups: stacked foot/staggered hands, sphinx (real hard - you have to push up from your forearms to plank, real tough on the shoulders. My left shoulder is still bothering me slightly from my fall a few weeks ago so I didn't do too many), prison cell (think of terminators with pushups), walking pushup with towel - tough! and reach high and under pushups (standard pushup, then go to one arm balance, lift hips in air and reach top arm under body). Lots of tough core moves like banana rolls (start in banana, roll to side, roll to stomach and again to side, repeat), bow to boat, side hip raise (they did 30-40 reps, I didn't do that many), superman banana (go from superman to banana, he starts out slow and then speeds up the tempo), steam engine (50 reps - did all of these - lift knee to opposite elbow, also starts off slow and then gets faster). Some cardio moves were squat run (with light weight, I used 5# - from squat position move arms back and forth as if running and go as fast as you can, plank to chaturanga run (this was real tough - while in plank pushup position, bring knees in as if running then lower body to Chaturanga position (just an inch off ground) and simulate running (sneaking crawl), this was really hard, dreya roll (start standing, squat and place hands down, roll from butt to back and kick legs straight up, as feet come back to floor, roll up and stand (or jump, or split legs in air or turn jump). There were also low lateral skaters (done slowly and to intensity you lift leg in air), lunge & reach over opposite shoulder (I used 10# here), leaning crescent lunges (at least these weren't hard), squat X-Press (plie squat into overhead press so body forms an X. I used 5# here, next time I will use 8#). There was also a lunge, kickback, curl, overhead press, reverse curl (I used 5# here, next time I will use 8#). There was also a bonus round of plank to chaturanga isometric holds (10 cts in plank, 10 in chaturanga), halfbacks (tire run and 6 high steps back) and table dip leg raise (like tricep dips with leg raise - I did 30 reps).
Gin - It's in the lower 40s here. I wish it would warm up already. Have fun at your Easter egg hunt. I was supposed to go to a dance workshop on my birthday but I found out yesterday it was sold out so I'm going May 5th instead. I might go pamper myself a little, either get my nails or hair done. Don't know what DH has planned. DHs birthday is in a couple of weeks and we're going to see The Machine do Pink Floyd. DH has wanted to see this show for awhile and we finally got tickets. Glad you had fun doing HSC. I haven't done that one in awhile.
Tracee - I like the music in C&W too. You have to go a little lighter on weights in C&W because they're compound moves. Glad you got a workout in with your busy schedule.
Deanie - HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Hope you have a great day. I will also be 42 on Saturday.
Have a great day everyone. (Sorry for the long post but I was so excited about Core Syn, I had to share with you all.)
