Good Morning Girls :)

I could not wake up this morning, but when I finally rolled out of bed I had a great workout!! It was a little frustrating in SS with Cathe, because she does so many more reps than I am, but over all I upped almost all my weights and I am feeling it now.

Stats:
overhead press 17#, 10 reps 1st time, 20# 8 reps 2nd time
preacher curls 30# 10 reps both times
tri extensions 12# 10 reps 1st time, 14# 8 reps 2nd time
rear delt fly 5# 10 reps; 7# 10 reps
concentration curls 15# 10 reps; 17# 8 reps
dips on ball 24 1st time, 30 2nd time
inverted shoulder press 15 each time
hammercurls 15# 10 reps; 17# 8 reps
dips with bar 35# each time 24 reps 1st time, 30 reps 2nd
front raise 15# 10 reps ; 20# 8 reps
reg curls 15# 10 reps each time
kickbacks 12# 10 reps each time (could have gone to 14 the 2nd time but wasn't sure at the time)

Today is a no work day for me, and I am meeting a friend for lunch.

Have a great day/workout
BBL,

Deanie

Good Morning!
Today was yoga class and run 3 miles on the treadmill. Deanie, I used your interval run cycle that you posted and then added more time to make 3 miles. I'm sure it goes much more smoothly when your treadmill has the program and you don't have to keep changing the incline and speed. But I enjoyed it.

Deanie--Great workout! Enjoy your day off.

Marcy--I did see Clyde dance last night. Not so good. I think he was ready to go!

Tracee-- Saw you post last night. Glad you are back with us!

Runing late. BBL,
Gin

Good Morning!

Today was Shoulders & Arms and Ab Ripper X.

Alternating Shoulders Presses: Rnd 1: 10 reps, 15#, R2: 8 reps, 15#
In & Out Bicep Curls: R1 and R2: 16 reps at 13# (up 1# from last wk)
2-Arm Tricep Kickbacks: R1: 9R, 15#, R2: 8R, 15# (up 2# in R1, .5# R2)
Deep Swimmer's Press: R1 and R2: 8 reps at 16.5# (up 1.5# from lst wk)
Full Supination Concentration Curls: R1: 10R at 13.5#, R2: 8R at 14.5# (up .5# in R1, up 1# in R2 from last week)
Chair Dips: R1: 23 reps, R2: 30 reps with leg raises
Upright Rows: R1 and R2: 10 reps at 13.5# (I really don't like the way upright rows feel. They don't do anything for me.) There was a thread over at videofitness where there was an article that said this exercise was a waste of time. I'm beginning to think that's true for me.)
Static Arm Curls: R1 and R2: 16 reps at 13.5# (up 1# from last week)
Flip-Grip Tricep Kickbacks: R1 and R2: 8 reps at 13# (up 1# from last week.) This exercise is tough for me. Kickbacks in two positions.
Two-Angle Shoulder Flys: R1: 9 reps at 13#, R2, 16 reps at 13# (forgot this was a 16 rep exercise in R1.) Went up 1# in R1.
Crouching Cohen Curls (tough!): R1 and R2: 8 reps at 13# (up 1# in R1)
Lying-Down Tricep Extensions: R1 and R2: 8 reps at 13# (up 1# in each round.)
In & Out Straight Arm Shoulder Flys: R1 and R2: 16 reps at 12# (up 2# from last week)
Congdon Curls (for some reason my arms just seem to give out on this one): R1: 4 reps at 12#, 4 reps at 10#, R2: 8 reps at 10#
Side Tri-Rises: R1: 17 reps both sides, R2: 18 reps both sides (up 2 reps in R1, 3 reps in R2)

Ab Ripper X: Almost didn't want to do it because I was running late but did it anyway. I left later this morning for work, but got in earlier. Go figure! Improved on Mason Twists - did 50 instead of 40.

Deanie - Sounds like as Tony says "you're really bringing it". Good work!

Tracee - Glad to have you back with us. 8 rounds is pretty good for getting back into the swing of things. Sounds like this rotation is working for you. Pushups should just be as many reps as possible.

Gin - I'm so glad Clyde is gone! I think Billy Ray or John is next. Next week they do 2 dances.

Have a good day everyone. BBL.

Good morning girls!

I had a good workout too. Increased my weights in most categories too. I noticed while I was doing the concentration curls that my right arm gave out sooner than my left one. That was a little disturbing. I'm not sure why one is stronger than the other but I'm going to work on balancing that out.

I'm taking my son to the Ear, Nose, Throat doctor today to possibly schedule a tonsilectomy (sp?). This is the same son who had all the bouts with strep throat. The doctor suggested it to help his snoring and possible sleep apnea. He's freaked out about possibly having surgery but if it means he'll sleep better and not have throat problems as often than I'm all for it.

Have a good day ladies!

Tracee

Hi Tracee,

Glad you had a good workout. I have the same problem as you with my left arm being stronger than my right. Good luck with your DS at the doctor. Hope everything works out.

Marcy

Good Afternoon :)

Marcy- wow! it looks like you got a great workout today! About the upright rows, I think Cathe stopped doing them (I think she only uses them in one or two older workouts) and maybe its because they aren't as effective as other shoulder exercises. I think I answered your question about DOMs from this rotation to soon the other day. I think today may be the day I will have DOMs. I had a lot of fun increasing my weights:) Didn't you? I meant to ask how your basement is? That must have been very frustrating with trying to sell your house and flooding issues x(

Tracee- Nice to have you back :) Its funny, but my bicep in my right arm gave out also on the concentration curls the first round, and my left arm was fine. But I increased for the next round and was fine. I was wondering if maybe my form was off. Its weird because I am right handed. Good luck at the doctors with your son. I hope everything works out okay for him.

Gin- I'm glad you liked the interval cycle workout on the treadmill :) I hope you had a fun day at school. Today is the only day all week I'm not subbing. Tomorrow and Fri. I am subbing 8:15-2 (I'm in early for early arrival at 8:30) I really want to do a 90 min. yoga tomorrow, I hope I can get up in time:) if the last few days are any indication, I may be doing short forms again! LOL

Marcy- I forgot to ask: this week we are doing abs on day one and day 3 and if we do CK (which I am) there is no additional ab work this week. (I know abs are worked inadvertantly in CK- but last week when I did KPC I did abs 3X that week) Should I leave it as is? or throw an ab day in with CK or legs?

I also forgot to mention I did CTX kickbox planks and BC abs and this was killer!!}( A great ab workout!

Deanie

Hi again!

Deanie: I liked increasing my weights too. I think I'm going to try and increase every week if at all possible. My basement is pretty much back to normal but I don't know if we're going to go ahead with the open house this week or wait another week to get the house a little more in order. A photographer was supposed to come to do a virtual tour but he hasn't come yet so I don't think it's a go for Sunday.

For all of the non-recovery weeks, I have abs on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. If you feel Cardio Kicks gives you enough ab work, I guess you can leave off abs for Friday. I've been hearing such good things about CTX, I think I will eventually get that. I look on ebay for it all the time, but I really don't want to spend that much. I'm not in a rush at the moment either since the X is going to go for 90 days and then I have all my new Tracey Staehle's and Pure Strength's to work with. I can't wait to see what Cathe's new 4 day split and 3 day heavy workouts look like. I have All Step from CTX and I liked it a lot. I liked the choreography and the fact that Cathe didn't go over things too much so the workout just zoomed by. The abs and shoulders were good too. If all the workouts were as good as All Step, I think I'd like them except for Leaner Legs which sounds like overkill for me (since I'm getting out of the weighted leg workouts.) Is there any floorwork in Leaner Legs? I've also heard the Upper Body Premix is really good too. I love BC abs too. I think this is one of her better ab workouts, along with MM abs and ME abs.

Marcy

Deanie - I found it strange too that it was my right arm that gave out because I'm right handed too. Hmmm. I'll have to concentrate on my form and see if that was the reason.

Marcy - I loved CTX when I had it. It was the perfect combination for me. The workouts weren't too long and they were fun. I didn't like leaner legs either so I rarely did that one. It seems like it did have floor work in it though.

Forgot to add that I did ME abs but had to stop early for time reasons. I would have liked to do BC abs but I only have it on VHS and that would have taken too much time to ff to all of the abs sections.

Have a good day, I'll check back tomorrow.

Tracee

Marcy- Okay, I think I will add on ab work on Fri. Thanks :) I like the CTX series. I use it mostly for a quick 30 min cardio workout or a part of a mish mosh. I used the whole series as is and didn't get any results, but I think my hips got bigger (there is step work 4 days) and cardio 5 days. I did the step on 8". The cardio is good and fun though. When I did GS/S&H one body part a day, and did less cardio I got better results. I like leaner legs. I just did it so its fresh in my mind. It is almost done in a super sets way: squats, deadlifts, lunges, calf work, and then she rotates that sequence 4 times changing the type of squat, deadlift, etc. There is a little floor work (which I am happy about- I don't like floor work-just inner and outer thighs, one excersise each) and the excerses move quickly so my heart rate goes up!

Deanie

Good Afternoon Ladies!

Marcy--On DWTS, John at least looks as if he is trying. What Billy Ray does , doesn't even look like dancing to me, bless his heart. He just kind of stiffly walks. The rest are fun to watch. I'm sure it alot harder than it looks. I would probably fall on my face!

Tracee--My right arm is stronger and I think that is fairly typical. In fact my entire right side is stronger. I notice that in yoga poses. What did the doc say about your son?

Deanie--I don't teach on Wed. I do go to a Bible Study every Wed. morning. The last 4 years I taught 5 days a week working 8-3:30 and I wanted fewer hours, so I am teaching 4 days a week working 8-1:30. I like it !! Is your 90 min. yoga David Swenson? I find that in yoga I am much more flexible than I am strong. I'm sure that comes as no surprise to you guys since you know I can't lift 1/2 of what you strong girls can!

Every time I hear you all talk about other great workouts dvds that I don't own, I think I have to have that one, too! I just bought Core Max, since I only had the FitTv version.

Gin

Deanie/Tracee: Funny, I'm right handed too and my right arm also gives out. I don't think I would do CTX as is since it seems like too much step (even though step is my favorite cardio) and in general, too much cardio for me but maybe I would do one body part a day with CTX, S&H, PS, Gym Styles. I think FitnessFreak has a rotation like this. I love cardio, but if I do it more than 2x a week, I lose too much muscle and with my dancing 3 hours a week, 2 other workouts is more than enough. It definitely doesn't sound like Leaner Legs is for me. It does sound like I'd really like the cardio though.

Marcy

Gin- congrats on the core max purchase. You will love it:)

Marcy- I did a GS/S&H one body part a day with 30 min. cardio on 4 of the days. I loved it and got great results! I didn't always sub with the CTX cardio, but some days I did. The kickboxing and 10-10-10 are great 30 min. fixes!!
